Hey There Pomp........Thanks for those great shots. Wish I were there. That boat sure looks like a Drascombe Yawl. Is that your fishing rig?? Or is that one of the NOLS boats? ++C++

Hi Pomp......Speaking of the abundance of marine life in the old days!!!!!!.........Heres a little tale for you......In March of 1974 we were camped in that first clump of trees just south of where your house presently sits provisioning our dory for a 3 month voyage south to La Paz. A heavy 27' rowing/sailng rig with no motor, and 100 gallons of water and diving gear and lots of food stuffs. We caught an am. ebb tide and rowed out past Punta Conception and headed south. Not long after the tide switched and we headed towards one of those nice little sandy coves just a few miles south of the point to camp again for the eve. A windless day. After supper and as an almost full moon was coming up over the water to the east we knew we were in "Paradise". Then coming into our world was a pod of 25 finback whales. They were dancing on the water as if they were all just having the time of their life. Blowing and rubbing on oneanother as only whales can. Many juviniles and large (50' to 80') adults. We listened and watched all night as they slept almost wihin touching distance of us. Early in the am we had to catch the ebb tide to ride south so a very real challange presented its self. The small bay was chock a block with these monsters. I was absolutley peeing my shorts. We loaded up the dory said our prayers and I through over an offering. As we headed for clear water our sound asleep friends cleared a path for us moved slightly and one would occasionaly look up and smile. We were like one of them and in noway did they ever feel threatned or was their any anxiety from us or them. THEY INSTICTIVELY KNEW!! For about a week after that each day we would see that pod and one or two woud come to us a pay a visit. We had made some new friends. ++C++
