...and you think Loreto Bay looks bad...just wait until Baja is owned by the US with a freeway system down the entire length...too funny...

Good one---easy to overlook the little fine print.

Mainland Mexicans refer to Baja as the Provinces but, you can bet they'll express a closer bond when any mention of losing more land to the United States is made, bought or otherwise.
It'll never happen.

It might seem kind of ironic, but if Baja was ceded to California, coastal ownership would probably suddenly be farther out of reach for so many of us due to the increase in land values. Development of the coast would accelerate and there would surely be little left in the way of adventure opportunities for the common man - especially camping type of adventure. California would probably set aside some token amounts of land for recreation and then place so many restrictions on it that it wouldn't be worth exploring. It would not a win/win for everybody. I feel a bigger connection to anywhere in Baja, including Cabo, than I do for a place like Santa Barbara.

What a boon to California. Just think of all the property tax they will add to their coffers from all those million dollar homes being built.

What a waste of taxpayers' money!!

...reading about the purchase of Baja by the US really chaps my hide. What a friggin waste of money. I have a much better idea: why don't we gingos and gringas just all line up at the border and orchestrate a peaceful take-over - then we can buy up the best land, eat up the best food, and the money the U.S. saves by not actually "buying" Baja can be used for increasing our highly successful peacekeeping missions in the middle east...

remember, its a joke....

Ay carumba. Where's the water park!:yes::no::yes:

Over and Over Again

The Rumor that the U.S. was buying Baja has surfaced, in one form or another, every few years for the past Thirty years that I'm aware of.

Uhh, is that not what is already happening down here? :(

Larry, you stole some of my thunder by being quicker than I was to respond. I was going to say that, but then I realize that Baja_girl was way ahead of us in her satire.

Anyway, why would we want to impede the ability for the politicians to waste money? That's their forte! Besides, you would be depriving the whole social welfare state of politicians, their lawyers, accountants and land acquisitions pimps from making a living.:wow:

Sharksbaja,

Water park about to be built between San Jose and Cabo.

Larry, This has been the formula MX has been using in CA for years. By 2020 we will simply be voted out of California. So, let's give California to Mexico and then claim Baja California for us gringos. I for one will gladly give up what California has become. CaboRon
