BajaNomad

Your favorite reason you like Baja (Poll)

fishbuck - 5-22-2007 at 07:22 PM

Lets take a poll!
If you put other please post a 1 word reply like "Boating" or something. Otherwise you'll just mess up the poll. And no it's not funny to spoil my poll.

FishBuck...Other then golf they all are great reasons....you left the real reason I like Baja off. #1 reason: The type of people that really love Baja are concentrated there. This type of people are happy and want to be your friend.

I put "People" on there. I guess I should have put "Friendly" people. That's what I meant.

I really enjoy the Mexicano people and they rank as a valid reason...but I am referring to is the Americano that felt the draw to Baja....enough so they do not want to be anywhere else.

Can you fit "to get away and go someplace that is 180 degrees opposite of my normal life" somewhere on this poll?

David K - 5-22-2007 at 08:32 PM

You have history twice... good catagory, but Baja has so much to offer with history being one part of what draws me south... Going back to Mision Santa Maria this weekend will be a great adventure, so I answerd 'Adventure' because that trip combines off roading, history, beer, restaurants (El Rosario and other places on the road), people (like good Baja Nomads who are going too, and the good people of Baja we interact with), adventure... that road is awesome!

Solitude

Packoderm - 5-22-2007 at 10:43 PM

How many of us would travel to Baja if it was a completely landlocked destination? The coast is definitely a big part of the draw - whether it be for the beaches, fishing, kayaking, and all that sort of stuff. Also, I'm sure that weather is also a big part of the draw as well. Many people who go to Baja like the warm weather. I doubt nearly as many would go if the weather was more like Crescent City - especially in the winter. As for me, it's a toss up between the fish tacos and being able to drink a beer while driving on dirt roads en route to a beach for camping adventure with a little fishing and snorkeling in the company of good people. Despite all that, I probably wouldn't be so eager to go to Baja if my ten-hours-a-day painting job was there waiting for me along with a lawn that needs mowing on weekends.

So is that "Adventure" or "Other"?
That's why I put "Favorite" in the topic heading. You only get to pick one thing.
It was hard for me to pick just 1 also but the poll can only work that way. When it's done maybe we can get a good picture of what BajaNomads like.
So, pick your favorite thing if you can. Otherwisw I guess the catchalls are "Other" and "Adventure"

The people, both the Mexicanos and the "real" Baja Americanos..you know who you are.

Yep .. Solitude is my #1 reason for loving Baja.
Wakes up all my senses that get jammed full of crap when I'm home.

bajadock - 5-23-2007 at 08:01 AM

water

I'm watching dolphins playing 100m off the beach as I type. They don't have this scene in Denver very often.

Maybe that could come under the "Beach" category.

windgrrl - 5-23-2007 at 06:29 PM

...because it's everything that home isn't!

fishbuck - 5-23-2007 at 08:31 PM

Okay, looks like 51 responces to the poll so far. Even 1 for golf. Keep them coming!

fishbuck - 5-24-2007 at 09:12 AM

52 responses. Looks like we're losing momentum. Anyone else?

Mike99km - 5-24-2007 at 06:25 PM

I know a few people surf on this site any reason it was left off?
I it's always at the top of my list. I also Fish, Kayak and get away from the world . :tumble:

Yes, I did forget to include some categories like surfing and mountain biking. It wasn't intentional and by no means am I trying to slight those things.
As you might be able to tell the poll is somewhat unscientific and just a snap short of what Nomads may like.
Please pick your favorite and if I forgot yours use either other or adventure with a brief explanation. Thanks!
Oh ya, FISHING RULES! Ha ha...

DENNIS - 5-25-2007 at 12:53 PM

Hey Fish ----

There wasn't a catagory for all the cultural interchange available on Miramar Street in Ensenada.
A gross oversight, Mike.

Ya Dennis, I considered including it. Somehow "Other" doesn't quite cover it although "Adventure" might be okay.
I'll definately include it in my next poll... "2nd Fvorite..." along with Ladies Bars and Brothels.

'OTHER' is a close 2nd

Tomas Tierra - 5-25-2007 at 02:00 PM

what are some 'OTHER'reasons

For me Surf/Windsurf is the other....

Bedman - 5-25-2007 at 03:13 PM

RockhouseTom had it summed up (in the least amoutn of words) for me.

Freedom to do what I want to do when/if I want to do something and everything else on the list. I don't think there is a simple, single word answer.

That's a great picture. Makes surfing look very appealing. I suck at surfing. Maybe that's why I forgot to include it.

Tomas Tierra - 5-25-2007 at 10:57 PM

Usually the people who aren't that good at surfing are having the best time:bounce:.......

fishbuck - 5-26-2007 at 02:15 PM

Okay, we're up to 74 responses.
Fishing still rules(barely) with Other a close second.
Seems like alot of the Others are surfers.
What about everyone who always posts about this or that restuarant? Where are you?
Mama Espinoza's in El Roserio was probably the best halibut fillet emponizada(breaded and fried) that I ever had. Great place.

fishbuck - 5-27-2007 at 12:59 PM

80 replies and counting. Can we get to 100?
Oh ya, fishing is still the most important reson to go to Baja!

fishbuck - 5-28-2007 at 04:54 PM

Okay we're getting closer to the magic 100 responses. Keep them coming Nomads!

fishbuck - 5-30-2007 at 06:32 PM

I'm giving the poll 1 more run down the page. Vote now if you haven't already.

Halboo - 5-31-2007 at 08:28 AM

I clicked fishing but the history, food, landscapes, nature and nice people are equally important.
Viva Baja!

I'm with JDTrotter
