How does that work to show the Underwater Topography ?

Seriously, though, the resources that I have include:
Charlies' Charts for Mexico, including the Gulf of California (bought in 1988) http://www.charliescharts.com/
The sketches include depths where they might be a concern when navigating or anchoring.
This is a Max/Wide Chart Chip, you can get smaller chips that cover less area burned to order from: http://www.waypoints.com/
Charlies Charts are good, but you can update the electronic charts every other year or so for a few bucks.
You can even Rent C-MAP Charts when you are in a new area, or buy used.
The truly frugal can get a compatable used chip from eBay, and get it updated...ends up costing less than half of new, but remember only a fool

Well, I think you'll be surprised then that your C-MAP's for the SOC are based on Mexican charts from 1870 something. They are off by 1.5+ miles in
some areas. This is what Hook was trying to tell you. Your C-MAP charts can only be used as a reference.
Gerry Cunningham's charts and guide books are about the most accurate source of info you will find for the SOC.

I've heard about the big-time errors on the SOC.
I looked up Gerry's Chartguides the other day...I've got his 10 year old Paddle Charts for the Northern Cortez...I was dissapointed to see that
they're no longer available as they had handy details missing from the Fish'n'Maps and Baja Directions Maps like the location of fresh water, good
haulout beaches and current info.
Seems to me that I read somewhere on the 'net about a half mile error for Roca Montana off Isla Cerralvo, shouldn't be too much trouble to find it

M, my point was to the relative accuracy of the GPS charts to the paper ones...........both highly inaccurate in places, in relation to the shoreline.
I cant really speak to the bathymetric info on either although I like the FnM charts better. Much easier to read that the BD maps. Like the smaller

The only way charts get updated is by input from mariners...I can't speak to the mexican chart service, but I'll be reporting my findings to C-MAP and
enquire what they do with the data.
