How many pictures are you guys going to show of your "RAT CARS"? If you don't know what I'm talking about just ask Roy.

HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT? Are you a Bighorn expert. You don't even know how many goats there were. I know you know everything so why do you have to make things up.:no:

Are you just upset because you didn't go anywhere?:wow::rolleyes:

I was looking into my camera taking as many photos as possible... I asked the three other people there how many sheep and I got estimates from 12 to 20 big horns, so that is what I said here...

You are right, I am no expert on them, never claimed I was. By the way, what is a 'Rat Car'?
:lol::lol::lol::?:

Nice photos DK...you got it good! Those bighorn are awesome when you catch a glimpse of them. Can't wait to see the rest of the photos--I'm going to Baja with you these days vicariously!

Neal Johns - 5-30-2007 at 06:42 AM

Good job, DK and SC.

Jack Swords - 5-30-2007 at 06:48 AM

Fantastic David!! Can't wait to see the rest of your photos and a trip report. Front wall still OK? Any indication of any preservation work there?

Thanks for the "tease".

Guys, you are welcome... You know I love to go to Baja and share my trips with you! I hope it inspires the rest of you to provide trip reports when you return from any Baja adventures...

Jack, there is NO work at all, at the site... The only addition was a small cement pad on the ground with INAH and other stuff scribed plus a date of 1996 (which I didn't see in 2003 or 1999)...?? I took a photo of it... Heck, I took photos of everything at the mission!! Digital cameras rock!

By the way, the road in was really about as impassable as it can get. The Widowmaker was not the only serious challange this time... A couple of short drop offs before, and a couple after the Widowmaker were really tough. I am glad TW or Baja Cat didn't try to get in with their pick ups... Anything longer than my Tacoma will have a real problem with high centering or approach/ depart angles. I have a new dent below the passenger door, plus the trailer light connection and other low places under my truck got 'rocked', but good!

However, in the end, we both made it with some rock moving and spotting for tire placement... Locking rear differential or some traction control like the Land Rover's is recommended or maybe essential as there are places where one tire will not be touching the ground and you will need the remaining tire on that axle to have power.

Baja Angel said it was the first really challenging 4WD road she has experienced with me, in Baja.

Wow! Great photos and what a drive into the area. I have a Toyota Tundra and doubt I could get it into that area. Love the pixs of the bighorns, that's hard to get that close to them. Was the area a natural spring or was that just runoff in the rocks? Look forward to your additional pictures...

Epic borrego photo.
Always a blessing to see megafauna in the wild.
