mulege marv - 6-8-2007 at 05:41 AM

the new dock was completed yesterday, and after much hard work the dock is now wet. the new dock is replacing the 15' of pier washed away by hurricane john and was made possible by mulege fishing tournaments, all its sponsors, patrons, and residents. mulege fishing tournaments would like to thank all of you for your efforts.
here are a few pics.

Nice job guys the money came frome the fishing derby's but a lot of time and work came from a few individuals. I wish someone would post there names here so we can thank them also.

Minnow - 6-8-2007 at 07:49 AM

I am sure those panga/longliners that park their boats blocking the launch ramp are thrilled they have a new place to tie up to.

Bruce, thank Marv, he did most of the work.

...great job, Marv...

...you and your helpers added a much needed access to boats. Let's hope we won't have to crawl accross pangas to use it...I'm looking forward to using it when I get back down this fall...

At the dedication Friday, a good time was had by all.

FREE...beer and hotdogs for all and a ribbon cutting.

Good things happen in Mulege.

That's a first class dock, Marv. Hi, I met you the day after the tournament behind Marlin's house. We had just returned from fishing with him. We have a place on Coyote Bay. Nice going! Vince

Marv,

Your ballast guys are the right ones for the job. Here's a photo of the orchard truck without ballast:

first of all lets all give credit where credit it due. the commitee is made up of 6 people, but we depend alot on voluteers also. there were probably 10 others not on the commitee whos time was spent getting donations from merchants, emailing & faxing potential sponsors, hanging flyers, banquet, etc, etc. there is alot that goes into something like this ( more than i thought). anyone who has been here knows you dont go to the store, you go to the stores to get what you need, and the dock was no exception. lots of people were involved, more than i can mention here, but you know who you are and everyone can now enjoy the end result of all the effort. its nice to see the local pangeros be able to pull up, pick up, and drop their customers off, rather than climb over other pangas to get to the pier. oh yea i almost forgot, this new addition to the pier is located behind the hotel serenidad, close to the end of the air strip. we would like to thank everyone for your support in this much needed project.

not one panga has tied up to the new dock, they use it to ulnload their wares and park on the beach. they have been using it as intended. the offenders have been " gringos". a sailboat was tied to it yesterday making the dock unusable by anyone else, so i wandered into the serenidad and asked if anyone there owned the boat tied to the dock this guy says proudly sucking on a margarita "yea thats my boat". when i told him it was a community dock and was for unloading and loading only and that he had made unusable for anyone else he said "yea but we are only going to be here a couple of hours". i infromed him that if it wasnt moved there could be a chance it could be untied by someone needing to use the dock he had a change of heart. hopefully we can get a sign posted very soon telling the DUMB ones its not a free mooring spot but a community use dock.

capt. mike - 6-16-2007 at 05:09 AM

Bob, this is next to the community launch at donation pier, off the strip behind serenidad.

burnrope - 6-16-2007 at 12:30 PM

Now that there's a shipping facility in Mulege, I can't wait for the new Walmart.
