Pirates in Ensenada?

astrobaja - 6-13-2007 at 12:00 PM

Hi all,

My Wife and I were in Baja a couple weeks ago to finalize a real estate deal, we saw this ship in drydock. It kinda looked to us like one of the ships used in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, is this the case? The HMS Rose which was used for the Master and Commander movie is now in San Diego beside the Star of India, worth the tour on board BTW!

Or ......

That may be the government's finest effort to chase down the go-fast drug smugglers around Punta Banda.

It's the Black Pearl.

Below is a picture from King Harbor, Redondo Beach last summer.

Cypress:

Maybe you're seeing something I can't. I did a lot of work on the SS Wapama before she was moved from Oakland to the SF Maritime Museum. She was hog backed even before the move, and sometimes when she was heaved at her lines by the passing of a freighter in the estuary, she would spring and take four feet of water between my hourly rounds on the night watch. On two occasions I was bounding down the ladderways in the dark to arrive waist deep in what was supposed to be a bone dry engine room. Breathtaking in two ways.:O
