Do any of you know if there is validity to the story that groundbreaking has occurred in north Rosarito for construction of a Home Depot, Wal-Mart and
multiplex movie theater???

Don't know if groundbreaking has actually happened but I fail to see what the benefits might be. If you're thinking that these stores are like their
counterparts in the States, think again.
Shoddy copycat Mexican goods and overpriced (mostly)second-rate produce. I can buy better Mexican mellons at Costco in the States than at Costco in
Mexico, and cheaper! That these superstores get any business at all amazes me.

the Pabellon Rosarito Grand will be Wal-Mart and Home Depot. It will also have Cinepolis movie theaters and restaurants such as Applebee's, Peter
Piper Pizza, Bips and Burger King." It says that the target date for cokmpletion is autumn (of course it doesn't say which year). Depneding on how

This is a good thing for those of us in playas de tijuana who want to go to one of these stores. The Home Depot to the east of downtown TJ is a pain
to get to from the west side because of the drive through town.

Sure you can bring it down. And like Dave you may be able to save yourself 20 cents on a melon. He's right, the stores in Mexico are different than

Hi, Ronni. Hope things are going well. You can bring anything you want with you; we bring stuff across all the time; we also buy locally. So far,
though, we haven't found meat we like as well as what we get across the border and both restaurant owners that we know buy their meat in the U.S., so

June 8th was the groundbreaking for a new commercial shopping center in Rosarito. The principal retailers at the Pabellón Rosarito Grand will be
Wal-Mart and Home Depot. It will also have Cinépolis movie theaters and restaurants such as Applebee’s, Peter Piper Pizza, Vips and Burger King.
The new shopping center is named “Pabellón Rosarito Grand” and is located at the north entrance to Rosarito on the site of the annual traditional fair
grounds at the intersection of the road to PEMEX and electric agency CFE (Comisión Federal de Electricidad).
The vision of entrepreneurs in Rosarito, who determined growth of the city and region could support such a venture, led to the development of the idea
for a shopping center. The businesses at the new shopping center will provide much needed goods and services that the residents of the region have
been lacking for many years.
The investment firm México Retail Advisors (RMA) is funding the construction. RMA is presently managing six shopping centers in Baja California: Plaza
Centenario in Mexicali, Plaza San Pedro in Tijuana and the new Macro Plaza del Mar in Ensenada.

Hey, entrepreneurs! Here's some "vision" for you:
Instead of stocking cheap Mexican substitutes, why not use NAFTA to inexpensively import quality U.S. products? Maybe then all your countrymen who
continually cross to shop at U.S. Wall-Marts/Home Depots...wouldn't.
But then you wouldn't make the same profit margin, would you?

Carry your argument a bit further and you just might find that it will reduce traffic north on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when all to gringos go north to
shop..........Who knows it might have even more of an impact on border traffic if they would put in a few upper scale women's stores.
Yep! It just might have an impact on global warming, less traffic idling at the border, could be a win-win all the way around.
Hey! Perhaps a Catholic school or two would work wonders also.
