Want to buy a fridge in Mexicali

We need to buy a fridge for our house at Alfonsina's. We want to buy it in Mexicali to avoid the import hassle. Does anyone have advice about the best place to buy one there? We know there are Walmart, Sam's Club and Home Depot stores...but what would you recommend? Obviously we are looking for an energy efficient model. But we are not interested in the DC jobbies...have a solar system and AC in the house. Also ain't gonna pony up $2500 for a SunFrost or equivalent.:?:

First of all look at the energy consumption label, Its been my experience that the the Samsung are the most energy efficient and dependable, My Samsung I think is 16CF and it uses 150 watts. per label on door.

We have an LG , we bought at Sams in Mexicali. Low energy, not self defrosting, which was what we wanted due to running it on solar. Cost a bit more than some but no import hassel either which is well worth it as far as I am concerned.

I got mine at Coppel here in Mexicali. There are several Coppel stores at most of the newer/bigger malls.

It cost a little over $300. It's almost full size.. a little more narrow (to fit in my apartment and my budget)

I did a lot of comparison shopping. Wal-mart, Ley, Costco, Sorriana, Coppel, Dorrians, etc.. They all price about the same; but, often different stores offer slightly different models. I found the best deal for me at Coppel. Most cases they offer the same models.

Energy consumption information labels were generally present in the form of a yellow sticker on the front or side of most of the models in the stores.
