Tom Cruise served up a sweet treat at pal John Travolta's surprise 50th birthday party in Los Cabos, Mexico, over the weekend -- a peanut butter and chocolate airplane cake.
Cruise was one of 280 pals at the star-studded party organized by Travolta's wife Kelly Preston and friend Oprah Winfrey, who turned 50 last month.

Barbra Streisand dished up another treat when she sang "Happy Birthday" to her movie star friend, and Carly Simon changed the lyrics to her hit "You're So Vain" to "You Fly Planes" for the actor.

There were other musical tributes from Natalie Cole, Tony Bennett and Robin Gibb, who performed Travolta's favorite song "How Deep Is Your Love."

An emotional Travolta says, "It was my wish to have everyone I love in one room together."

Other famous friends at the bash included Robin Williams, Meg Ryan, Sylvester Stallone and Dan Aykryod. Travolta was visibly stunned when he arrived at the resort for what he thought was a golf tournament to see one famous face after another.

His wife had a great night after lying to her husband about the surprise for months. She says, "My highlight was watching Oprah doing tequila shots. It was great and my husband looks really good."

Oprah Winfrey got to turn the tables on John Travolta! Toting an exclusive, glittery, "O"-monogrammed Judith Leiber bag, Our Town's empress of the airwaves was part of the huge surprise 50th birthday bash Travolta's wife, Kelly Preston, pulled off last weekend at the posh new Palmilla resort in Los Cabos, Mexico. The actor, of course, surprised Oprah by co-emceeing her big "Five-O-prah" TV show on Jan. 29.

Chicago's own star chef Charlie Trotter -- who created the resort's signature restaurant C -- was also on hand for the festivities, joined by his mom, Donna Lee, as well as brother Scott Trotter, all helping to fill the tummies of the celebrity crowd surprising Travolta with tasty gourmet treats.

Among the high-profile pals at the Travolta Palmilla party were Tom Cruise, Dan Aykroyd and wife Donna, Barbra Streisand and James Brolin, Robin and Marsha Williams, Sean Penn and Robin Wright Penn, Gayle King, Meg Ryan, Scarlett Johansson, Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin, Kirstie Alley, Quincy Jones, Laura Dern, Diane Sawyer, Lisa Marie Presley (joined by guitarist Michael Lockwood), Anne Archer and Balthazar Getty.

The pinnacle of the weekend was a Saturday night aviation-themed "Travolta Global Airways" birthday party -- a tribute to Travolta's well-known obsession with flying. It featured an elaborate dinner at Trotter's C, followed by a star-studded musical tribute that culminated with a giant 707 airplane cake and music performances by friends Roberta Flack, Michael McDonald, Tony Bennett, Patti Austin, Carly Simon and son Ben Taylor, Robin Gibb and Bebe Winans.
