Has anyone brought live trees or plants into Baja and what, if any, problems did you encounter with Mexican Customs????

BG ----
I've heard good and bad. Of course, there is no problem if they arn't seen.
Have you been to the nurserys in Guadalupe or San Antonio? They have excellent inventory but you have to bring your own Pacifico.

Dennis:....I was in Las Vegas last week and saw three types of trees that would appear to be a good match for Ensenada. I will check locally, but if
not available would consider transporting....except they are about 10 feet tall....just need a great story or good disguise!!!!

BG: check with the new vivero in Maneadero. One of the men there speaks excellent English (he was a teacher in La Jolla - San Diego La Jolla - not
Punta Banda La Jolla) for 32 years and retired here. They might be able to get what you want without your going through the trouble at Customs.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh

Importing Plants

Pulled over into Secondary Coming South years back and the officer looked at a large cardboard box I had in the truck asking what it was. I replied
"Plantas y Flores". He got a serious look on his face and said "NO Plantas" ! I pulled open the box and said "Plastico (actually plastic and silk)".
He laughed and said OK and I went on my way.

My experience is about eight years old - the customs inspectors (aduana) are concerned about foreign soil and possible infestations coming from it.
We had several mature trees that we were sentimental about. We removed the soil from the roots and washed them. The inspectors were satisfied and
allowed the trees to pass.
