18 year olds-on their own

Martyman - 7-3-2007 at 02:03 PM

My 18 year old son and two friends (both 18) are taking off for our new place in Bahia De Los Angeles. Do they need anything special to get their papers or return to the states. A parental permission slip?
Thanks,
Martyman

18 year olds are legally adults. No permission needed - just usual - passports or birth certs & picture ID. Maybe permission for vehicle if they aren't the owner. Possible might tell them just cause they can legally drink alcohol here, they don't have to try and drink it all.

They are lucky ducks to have parents who have given them the pioneering spirit and who are willing to let them depart the nest on their own adventure.

Tell them no drugs beyond ethanol. NONE.
Yeah, the stuff-- pot especially-- is all over.

There is some in the pumphouse behind Diaz's hotel rooms. Just brush the spiders out of the way.
Bought it there in "96, and left it there when we left.
They are welcome to it, although its probably not up to todays standards.:D

 We stopped at the La Pinta in Catavina on a trip to San Lucas Cove.
It took us longer to get a room then it took my smoking bud to hook up.

"Do you really think I can tell them anything?"
I really hope he listens to you - getting into trouble in Baja will be double trouble. Tell him that he and his friends, because they're 18 year old males, will be especially scrutinized at the checkpoints. Tell him not to try and speed through towns or on the highway "to make good time." They must drive cautiously at all times and take no unnecessary risks - like thinking they can pass that 18-wheeler on a hill without knowing if a blind turn is coming up. And hopefully he knows what all the highway signs mean and can calculate kms. And tell him that oncoming 18-wheelers, military trucks, motorhomes, and people towing boats will be something they will encounter regularly and to expect that they might encroach into your lane of traffic or come around blind turns in your lane. If he's aware of these possible dangers, he can anticipate them and avoid trouble.
If he won't' listen to you, let the nomad's all give him some advice and you can print it out for him.
