We are getting our FM3's through an agent in La Paz.
Question is;
Does he send us the docs before we head south ?
And if so, where do we need to stop and register ?
(for a residence in Asuncion)
Can we still enter at Tecate' ?
Or should he hold them until we get there with our FMT's and then register in Mexico ?
Can we handle the registration part ourselves ?

Ask them to help with registration, depending on which immigration person assists you it can be seemingly impossible, from my experience registration
is the hard part. If you walk in with your agent who is from La Paz it will be sooo easy if you do it alone it will be much harder due to language
issues and when they ask for something you wont know where/how to complete it even if it something as simple as rephrasing the answer or making a
copy.
You may want to ask the agent again if there are any additional things you might need from the states? Such as an Apostile of a notarized wedding

For a residence in Asuncion you will have to have register and have a folder started in Santa Rosalia.. At least that has been my experience living

Well, I have to assume you were talking to me.
Your post indicated that your agent could obtain documents, then forward them to you. Was that reference to the unregistered FM3? If so, I guess
you've already applied for it. If not, you will have to surrender a valid FMT as part of your application. That's the way I had to do it and
everybody I know had to do it.
So, if your FM3 is already applied for, you'll have a hard time traveling around Mexico with and FMT unless it's possible to get another one. I

seems that FM-3 requirements are a function of geography, regional interpretations of the rules, and the mood of the official that day. La Paz-area

We were told that it can be obtained in La Paz for all of Baja Sur, or obtained at a consulate in the US and registered in Guerrero Negro--different
district from Abreojos, we were told.
Maybe one day it will all be very consistent.

Diver....you'll have to go to La Paz Immigration to pick up your completed FM3's yourself....it requires the named FM3 holders
signature & fingerprints to pick it up. To register where you'll be in residence, they may ask for more current proof of address if your original
request for the FM3 was more than 2-3 months ago. The La Paz office personnel are fluent enough in English that you should be able to handle the
pick-up process yourself, but I'm guessing that the fee you paid your agent should have included his/her presence throughout the entire process to
simplify things for you. Be sure you take your FMT's whether you drive in or fly in, you'll be required to swap it for your FM3's.

1. Since you started with a person acting as your agent, can't he answer your questions to your satisfaction? Has he/she started the process yet? Are
you starting the FM3 process in La Paz because of recommendations from Nomads/La Paz residents?
2. I believe the local immigration office for Asuncion is Santa Rosalia. That is where you will have to register your local address. That office is
very territorial in attitude. In fact, they don't like FMTs that are issued in any other office but theirs.
3. As far as registering yourselves or using an agent, it depends on your confidence in speaking Spanish and also on the mood of the immigration
officer. In Santa Rosalia, if you start out with that office you are way ahead of the game. If not, it can get very complicated.
4. No matter where the first FM3 is issued, you will have to renew it in Santa Rosalia. If it is not too late, it is better to start there. They are
real control freaks!!! Believe me! I know! On the other hand, they are very nice and even helpful, if you start out on the right foot, the way they
want it. There are "agents" in Santa Rosalia who can help.

Your agent can pick them up and even sign for them with a power of attorney to do so...he just puts mine on the bus for me....oh and I've never went
through sta.rosalia office but like the guys there.
