I'd like some advise on bringing daily medications into Mexico (Baja). Because of police/military inspections, what's the best way to carry these
pills. I'd like to carry one of those weekly, every day has a little compartment, kind of thing. The pills are not identified and I'm wondering if
this would be a problem. Is it best to carry the original prescription bottle?
many thanks.bajajudy - 7-13-2007 at 02:24 PM
I have never known the checkpoint guys to do anything about prescription drugs. As far as I know they dont even look. I believe that people who have
gotten in trouble in Mexico for illegal prescription drugs were in trouble before they found the drugs...drunk, fighting, driving erratic...you know
the drill
The problem would arise going back into the states. US customs are the ones looking for illegal drugs. So if you have used all of yours and your
daily pack is empty, you would have no problem.Roberto - 7-13-2007 at 02:26 PM
Just carry them the way you normally would. I put mine in a ziploc bag, and make sure the prescription is on the bottle. Never even a question.Al G - 7-13-2007 at 02:27 PM
Labeled prescription are not an issue...I carry a large drawer full. If your week/day dose container is in the drawer with them there should not be a
problem. Maybe some questions. Do not have loose medication as that may delay you. The worst I have gotten is he pulled the drawer open looked in it
for about 15 seconds...shook his head and closed the drawer.
Highly advised

Carry the meds in the bottle. Fresh prescription. If scheduled drugs I wouldn't carry over a thirty day supply. I would also carry a copy of
the scrip in case you lose the meds and need refills.
Also, if I were traveling with legal scheduled drugs I would put them in my pocket when going through a military checkpoint.

Seldom enforced law in the US (both state and DEA).....it is a violation to carry prescription drugs in anything else except the prescription labeled
container issued by a doctor or pharmacy.......having said that, either carry the prescription bottles with you, or get a duplicat prescription
printout from your pharmacy.Al G - 7-13-2007 at 02:44 PM

Judy and Bajaguy are correct. The jeopardy is not in Mexico it is crossing back to the US. Original containers may be a pain but how much is peace of
mind worth?
