Playing with my Nikon built in zoom, after the photo was taken (tonight actually), I zoomed in on some of the big horn photos...
Those who didn't see the originals, they are on the Baja Nomad Baja Trip Reports Forum, Mision Santa Maria, May-2007.

Here is one non-borrego zoom. It is Junipero Serra's Cargo Trail between Gonzaga Bay and the Camino Real about 4 miles west of Mision Santa Maria...
used to supply Mision San Fernando Velicata from Spanish ships off loading at Bahia San Luis Gonzaga.
Wow !!

Where is Ted Nugent when you need him most??
ummmm BBQ Cabrita un pastor.............

Capt. Mike... maybe you can buzz the hills above Santa Maria to 'flush them out' for Mr. Ted?
Seriously, it was a great experience to see them... and if Baja Angel was not facing the cliff while we were sitting in a circle chatting that
morning, we would never had seen them as they were totally silent!

Looks like you were hip deep in sheep! Nice find and great shots.

Great shots David...........they seem really relaxed, how close were you? Did they seem worried about you being there?
David K - 7-19-2007 at 06:38 AM
Maybe 50 yards or less... Yes, as you can see at least one always was watching us... but they came down to drink anyway.

We ran into a crew spotting big horn sheep from the roadside between Mulege and Loreto. They were spotting for a guy with a bow and arrow and a film
crew who were up on the bluffs trying to put this guy so close he could knock down one of these rams with a bow and arrow. I have seen the rock
carvings of these creatures but had never before considered the amount of effort required to bag one. I felt glad that they were so difficult to
shoot.
Great photos, thanks for sharing them.
