this and another thread talked about the new regulation (posted in the ensenada immigration office) requiring that all fmts be obtained at point of
entry. went into effect about one year ago. definitely not a scam, much as it may seem/feel like one.Russ - 7-20-2007 at 05:12 PM

War?
Did I hear War?Minnow - 7-20-2007 at 05:53 PM
Thanks Sylens. I did the same FMT two step in Ensenada Dennis posted in his thread. The migra official was, well very official. I didn't feel I was
ripped of though.
What makes me laugh about his whole blown out of proportion thread, is Dennis' commented about having my truck stolen and my house robbed in My
thread.
"Adios Bronco". If that is not a "what it is, it is" comment I don't know what is.
Five bucks from an official though, now that should make you mad.
For the record, when in Baja do as the locals, "take off your muffler".
Saludos
And Dennis, come on man, correct the spelling on your header at least.

Yup, we got dinged the 50 pesos when we landed in Ensenada with FM3 in hand fresh from the consulate in San Diego...where the told us we had to do
NOTHING until we got to Ensenada; in Ensenada we were fined the $50 pesos because we did not have the FM3s stamped at the Port of Entry---TJ. We
asked that specifically at the consulate as we'd read all the horror stories here on Nomad...but for that 50 pesos....happy to pay it rather than go
back and start over.Hook - 7-20-2007 at 07:59 PM
so, then they are charging this "extra fee" at the BCS border at GN?Smoke - 7-20-2007 at 09:14 PM
At the risk of opening up the neverending FM3 thread I started a while back----If you are in Los Barriles area. Dennis Riley's(paydennis) son Armondo
is now assisting folks to get FM3 at La paz.craiggers - 7-21-2007 at 06:48 PM

I wouldn't count on the fine /fee being only 50 pesos in G/N because at that point you have actually broken a Mexican law by being out of the border
zone without an FMT. If you actually break a Mexican law, the fine can go up significantly.

Really, my point was that many have made it all the way to GN without papers and are just sent into town to pay the standard rate of 2000 pesos or
whatever it is. Dont recall seeing any posts where an additional amount was tacked on............except at Ensenada, of course.
