A guy from Tennesee that I admire a lot, his name is Huell Howser (host and producer of California Gold on PBS) said in an interview once:

Sometimes I get depressed at how fast we’re growing, how crowded we are, how the freeways are doing when you look out and see suburban or urban sprawl covering the mountainsides and the hillsides that 15 years ago were beautiful and undeveloped. But you can’t put the genie back in the bottle. What we need to do is learn how to live with growth, control growth, deal with growth. Because you can’t stop people from coming here. It’s the old story: I came to California, I’m here, now don’t let anybody else come in. That isn’t the way it works. So we have to look at this as an asset and not a liability. We have to look at the opportunities it presents to us, instead of wringing our hands and saying, “Woe are we. If we could only go back to the Good Ol’ Days.” Well, we can’t go back to the good ol’ days; we have to live with life as it is today, and deal with it – in a positive way.

Fernando, thanks for the pictures and also the words of wisdom.

I remember in the mid "70's" when the highway pavement was completed, I was so bummed, said I would never come back to Baja, it had lost it's sence of adventure for me, I mean the place was going to be taken over by a bunch of Winabagoites, for crine out loud, who needed that.

Well, I got over it, came home finally in "89", and it has been a wonderful, never would I have imagined what would have happend adventure every since.

What year are those cars. That Chevy looks like an early 60's doesnt it? The other one looks like a Rambler
