Canadian Breakfast

Dave - 7-23-2007 at 12:48 PM

Music and lyrics by Jimmy Dean, Canadian Breakfast was the B side of the 1956 Andy Williams hit...Canadian Sunset. While getting little airplay in the U.S., it was a mega-hit in Newfoundland...16 years at #1.

I thought it just meant that you didn't have to tip !! :lol::lol:

Canadians Speak Up

CaboRon - 7-23-2007 at 01:41 PM

Canadians speak up. There might actually be a good Canadian breakfast... is it anything like the extensive British Breakfast ? CaboRon

oldhippie - 7-23-2007 at 01:50 PM

Canadian bacon, much different than real bacon. Of course to Canadians, there's is the real bacon. I like it much better. Perhaps a maple leaf garnish with a snow cone for desert. :light: All for a looney.

They have some of the best sharp cheddar cheese too.

Wow, Bacon and snow cones doesn't sound like much of a breakfast.... well so much for Ignacio Springs .... I thought they ate better than that.

Breakfast at Ignacio Springs consists of eggs al gusto, bacon(I have never had canadian bacon there!), homemade sausage(from their pigs that they feed dates to), homemade bread, homemade jams(try the patayha if she has some!). Sometimes fresh orange cinnamon buns, fresh squeezed oj and always coffee ready at daybreak. It is one of the best breakies I have ever had anywhere. Oh she will make pancakes for you if you are not an egg person.
Dont know anything about any snow cones.

Now that must be what they mean by " Canadian Breakfast "on their website. Sounds a lot better than bacon and snow cones. Ron

DENNIS - 7-23-2007 at 04:15 PM

It means Canada is on a diet so, you get nothing.
Enjoy..........as the stupid, insipid one-word parting comment says.

BajaWarrior - 7-23-2007 at 09:11 PM

We were in Canada in June, we only had cereal...

Baja&Back - 7-23-2007 at 10:27 PM

Us Canadjins don't eat breakfast. That's why we're so slim & svelte!

Oso - 7-24-2007 at 07:37 AM

If "Canadian Bacon" is ham, what do they call ham?

Breakfast of Champions

bajaguy - 7-24-2007 at 08:18 AM

Thats why I always start off the day with a Pacifico......

Marie-Rose - 7-24-2007 at 08:25 AM

Elgatoloco
You know us too well... except it's not Molson's anymore. We'll go with Pacifico!

CaboRon
The "Canadian" breakfasts really are no different than the "US" breakfasts except for
the bacon which is very lean and usually smoked with a honey finish. It is also about
three times as wide...I have no idea where the cut is from but it is much different than
ham. I think one of the big diferences is the "home made" aspects which usually include homemade breads and jams, hash browns that are made with fresh thickly sliced potatoes (usually fried with onions)... none of those grated things that taste like paper, and free range meat. (sausages, ham, bacon) You will not be disappointed with Igancio
Springs. It also comes with some fabulous Canadian hospitality.
Okay...now I'm hungry. :tumble:

Second what Bajajudy was saying.
If you ever get the chance, stop for brekkie at Ignacio Springs B&B. Ask Terry to seat you outside under the palms. Her jams are to die for. One of the very best breakfast dining experiences we have ever enjoyed.

Ignacio Springs

CaboRon - 7-24-2007 at 10:21 AM

It looks if Ignacio Springs is a must stop on my journey !! :bounce: CaboRon

Great Stop

CaboRon - 11-17-2007 at 09:34 AM

On my recent drive down I spent two glorious nights at Ignacio Springs B&B---- The yurt was very comfortable, the breakfast wonderful, and the two dinners were to die for.
Does it get any better, I donīt think so...
I strongly recommerd this as a stop...and make it at least two nights
Their hospitality made me feel right at home, expecially around the family dinner table under the palms.
Canīt say too much about this great place.
- CaboRon:bounce:

And donīt forget to use the kyaks on the river.

windgrrl - 11-17-2007 at 04:29 PM

What is a Canadian breakfast?

How about Coco Puffs, Alphabits and/or Captain Crunch with a handful of sugar, and full fat milk washed down with Tang. Well in the '60s anyway!

Have been a Canadian for 50 years and have never heard of a "Canadian Breakfast"!

We eat our toast on the same side as everyone else!
