Month 4 progress, Doc's Pub Baja

bajadock - 7-26-2007 at 08:19 AM

Month 4 of my first-ever home construction and my mood and temperament are very good. Must be the local women and beer, in that order!

Windows are ready, electrical completing, drywall starting and doors(stock photo below) are being made. 2,800 sq feet of dark red saltillo tile for floors should be delivered late this week.

Fun this week was choosing fireplace logs. Decided against the propane wood stove look. Kiva style fireplace (style pic below)fits my "mission" theme and will be built by my foreman.

Vent free gas logs are "illegal" in California. But, RH Peterson, one of the leading mfr's of realistic looking fire logs has their facility in City of Industy(L.A.). Many phone calls got me to Peterson's international mktg rep, on to a dealer in Cabo and they will have my logset ready for me in will-call in City of Industy next week. Interesting roundabout, but, excellent customer service once I got the int'l mktg guy and the dealer in Cabo(Baja Outdoorliving)

Last item is the fun about my cross. No, I am not religious, but, my neighbors are curious. Now they can go to "church" and get their wine. And my foreman's name is Jesus(insert comedy here).

on the right side of the roof...is that for a bell????

bajadock - 7-26-2007 at 08:34 AM

Si, dos CAMPANAS. One for that arch above my kitchen entry and another on exterior entry stairway as my doorbell. That little peak is my impressionistic rendering of the point of Punta Banda peninsula. And my parents, very irish catholic, loved seeing the cross on their first Baja visit last week.

>>>special thanks to mi maestra, BB'05. And apologies to the nuns of my grade school. I hauled loads of pagan hardware back then for my spelling expertise. Need a ruler across the knuckles for my inability to spell bells!

Wow, that is impressive!

Great angles and the Cross!, the Cross! I hope they left all the guilt on the alter!

Hope you don't get a lot of late stragglers on Sunday Morning.

bajadock - 7-29-2007 at 07:53 AM

Sunday morning and noone in line for my sermon. No guilt found here, either. Remains from last night's "service" include some empty sacrificial bottles of cab .

bajamigo - 7-29-2007 at 08:41 AM

I must have overslept. Mea maxima culpa.
