bajajudy - 7-26-2007 at 12:59 PM

What do you like the most about living here?

My answer:

THE PEOPLE!

DENNIS - 7-26-2007 at 02:21 PM

Russ - 7-26-2007 at 02:22 PM

Russ - 7-26-2007 at 02:24 PM

Comi
Yes

One of the main reasons I moved here was the warm spirit of the people. Of course now, I probably couldnt find one of those people among all the strangers who have moved here from all over Mexico. but the people of Baja stole my heart.

Now that I am here, I am glad for all of you guys reasons too.

Bajame - 7-26-2007 at 05:52 PM

It's getting back to the simple life for me. I have met so many people and we all love Baja. I don't live in a gringo community and it took a little nerve to pack up and take down a few things that I would need to start a life in a new area but I did it and love it! The beaches are great! The seanery great, and the food is good. People who thought I was crazy to do this are jealous of me now! Seva.

Yes I love living on the oceanfront without jetskis and other mechanical abortions, but it is the people that make my life so good.

The people at the Calimax and Comercial Mexicana who come up to me when I am staring at the offerings on the aisle and offer to help me find what I need.

The people who safeguarded my purse when I left it at a restaurant in Puerto Nuevo and declined a tip when I came to claim it.

I have many more examples, but don't want to bore the readers.

The best of course, is the Sea of Cortez - the first thing I see, from my bed, when I awake and the last thing I hear when I go to sleep - and equally, the people - the Mexican people who have something very special, something we seem to have lost in the U.S. or not even interested in looking for. The hard work it takes to live here, in our solar home, trucked in water, etc. -- keeps us younger and yes, everyone still thinks we're crazy until they come down to visit, but just can't stand the inconviences for a very long time. And of course, when everyone goes home each weekend, especially after spring break! --

Wish I could say I actually "live" in Mexico. but when I'm there I love everything mentioned above. As Eli said, living in a Mexican bario, I have come to love the warmth
of our Mexican neighbors and the simplicity of their lives. I love the laughter that I can hear well into the warm evenings and often early into the morning. And then later on that same morning, the music and singing as the women are cooking and cleaning!!!

I love going into the local fruit market and trying to speak spanish while they smile and correct my pronounciation. I love being able to go to the small local market where Juan goes and cuts the lettuce as I point which ones I want....

...Okay... getting very "baja feverish"!!!!!

My $102 annual property tax on my new 1600 sq ft house on the beach - that's the second best thing.

The best is of all are the sexy young Mexicanas!

Hmmmm. Never considered Tijuana as being "old Mexico". That starts at El Rosario.

Then, of course, the "new" world started at Panama.

oldhippie - 7-27-2007 at 01:40 PM

What starts at El Rosario is no people. That's a good thing, well, except that includes no senoritas. :(

And THE best thing about Mexico are the women!! Very traditional, maternal, and easy to get along with. Oh, and muy caliente!

Muy Caliente

MrBillM - 7-27-2007 at 01:54 PM

Our (mostly) early life experiences mold much of our psyche for the rest of our lives.

Growing up in South Los Angeles (Watts) and making many early trips to Tijuana and beyond, I have always found Dark Skin Women the most Sensual and Attractive.

I'm forever grateful for having found Avenida Revolucion and its neighborhood.

NOW, of course, my best moments are looking out over, and being in, the Sea of Cortez.

Yes, but the night comes with unusal regularity. The area known as "la Coahuila" named after the main street, has the best entertainment. Friday night, going with the better half, she enjoys beauty also.

What we love about living here, RUSS, is people LIKE Dennis. He lives near us; he brings joy to almost every day in ways you'll never know.

We love all the people here... the most interesting thing we find is that most the Americans that end up in our community came from those suburbs in Calif where you drive up, push that remote to open your garage door -- wave at your neighbors that happen to be out at that time, pull into your garage and close the door -- you don't know their names, anything about them, etc., etc., etc., then we move here and find people that leave the garage doors open, invite you for coffee, c-cktails, dinner, breakfast, name it. I think all the cool people move to Baja. The door it always ABIERTO!
