I'm back east now trying to decide what surfcasting gear to ship to LA for fishing in Baja.
I'm used to fishing Montauk for stripers in the Fall. Big waves, wetsuit etc.
I've got 10' & 9' spinning & conventional rods, tons of plastic swimming plugs, wooden swimming plugs, tins, poppers, bucktails etc...
So, what should I bring?
Thanks in advance!

The surf fishing in baja varies greatly in the north versus the south and the cortez versus the pacific. I don't know where you intend to fish but the
northern pacific side of baja is similar to southern california and the following website is very good in my opinion on tackle and techniques for that
sort of thing:

Southern baja surfishing is more interesting because the pelagics come close to shore and you can get jacks, roosters, and sierras at times from the
shore. These require different techniques.

You could probably do just fine with these lures:
2 1/4 oz Krocodiles in blue or green mack
4 oz Ranger in blue/white and red/white
Berkley Gulp! worms with lead head
5-6 inch plastic swim baits (chovy, sardine, smelt type) with lead head
Then, some sliding sinker rigs for bait like sand crabs or mussels with baitholder hooks in sizes from 8 up to 2.
But where, specifically, are you going and when?
