What permit?

The same NAME on the FM3, the credit card (MC & Vista only) and registration. Guess you're talking about a Temp Imp Permit.

If you mean the permit required to take your car onto the mainland, you need an American licence. At least that was the rule as of last year when I went from La Paz on the ferry. Tried my Mexican licence and " no dice ". Accepted my wife's Ca licence and even my Ca expired licence, but not my Mexican one.
