Crowding has been a problem at the San Yesidro Crossing into the US for decades. I can remember long lines in the fiftys and sixtys.

This first pic is from the San Diego Historical website and looks like possibly the 1920's ......

Then And Now ..... And You Were There ! :lol:

This next image I captured yesterday around 1300 hrs.
It appears to be a similar perspective ......

Wish I was Amir. I was just at the border to observe the operation there (and to grab a carnitas taco). I spent some time watching the red light/green light entry way into Mexico, and just trying to get a feeling for what to expect.
I know I research stuff to death before I make a decision.

The red light is supposed to be a random thing, but I don't think it is; I think they can manually overide the automatic random selector. If for any reason they decide to check you out, the light is going to be red, and viceversa, if for any reason they don't want to check you, the light will be green or there won't be a light at all. I worried way too much about this green-red light thing, and I'm beginning to get it that there is nothing to worry about, especially since we don't carry what they are looking for, and that is weapons and illegal drugs... The worst that can happen is that we would have to pay a tax for what we are importing, or a mordida. I'm glad we're done with the border for now so that we don't have to think about it any more. Soon it will be a thing of the past for you, too, and you will be able to research other stuff, like for example, the carnitas tacos at Barajas Tacos in Todos Santos...

Appreciate your candor on your crossing. Each story builds the data base for my eventual decision on how to proceed ....

Actually it looks as if Todos Santos is a washout for me at this time .... am now looking in La Paz for a place to rent. Sometimes (most times) plans change. :lol:

Hey, Caboron, we repeatedly take groups of 16 RVs south thru San Ysidro and only one or two get stopped for questions. Maybe one in 25 is entered by the officers for inspection.
