The Mexicans in Baja have nothing on this Guy.....
The materials were loaded at Home Depot. Their store manager said they made the customer sign a waiver. While the plywood and 2X4's are fairly
obvious, what you can't see is the back seat, which contains - are you ready for this? - 10 bags of concrete @ 80 lbs. each. They estimated the load
weight at 3000 lbs. Both back tires exploded, the wheels bent and the rear shocks were driven through the floorboard.

Well...If it wasn't a joke, it was a borrowed car.

Don't think stoopid is a factor here. Just my take.
Mexitron - 8-1-2007 at 06:59 PM
Nah...can't believe anyone would do that...DENNIS - 8-1-2007 at 07:01 PM
Lee............... Big time factor, for sure. I can't stop looking at this. It appears, from the rear ties, that the load was centered on top.
Looks like they tied it down with twine. The driver appears to still be in the car, probably in shock.
Oh well, can't say he didn't try.
Gotta be a joke

Examine the picture closely. DENNIS - 8-1-2007 at 07:05 PM
Was that pile of wood loaded on that car with a computer?DENNIS - 8-1-2007 at 07:08 PM
Dave....
What are you seeing? I would imagine all the windows to be blown out but, I don't know.Dave - 8-1-2007 at 07:10 PM

Or tied with Spectra line. BMG - 8-1-2007 at 07:34 PM
At least he has a line tied to the windshield wiper so the load doesn't slide off the back.
Snopes says it's REAL!
Dave - 8-1-2007 at 07:37 PM
Still don't believe it. Don't see how the load could stay up there.
Daddy didn't teach him right

Think the cement would have done him in.
Not everybody has a Daddy to teach him right.
Oh, and I think the guy inside is asleep. Si?

That's nuts...if it is Photo Shop its a darn good job. I blew the thing way up, and I don't see how the strings going across the sign on the store in
the background could have been superimposed on there. What I don't get is why the plywood didn't slide like a deck of cards. That's what happens to
me every time I do that.Don Alley - 8-1-2007 at 07:49 PM
This photo was famous/infamous on a Volkswagon message board about six years ago. Much speculation and research into the authenticiy of the photo,
where it was shot, etc. If I remember correctly it was all inconclusive.
There was a huge thread that spun off featuring the same load of lumber taken off that photo and photoshopped on every conceivable yype of vehicle
ever made...airlines, space shuttles, Abrams Tanks, etc. Funny stuff.
It's now part of VW web folklore...here's a current VW dealer advertisement:

I think Don Alley nailed it. Check out the link he posted. To show you how it works, I could put the house you're building on that li'l white pickup.viabaja - 8-2-2007 at 03:19 PM
This is an old photo that's been circulating around. It is real! The 2 people were found by the police sleeping in the front seat. They were meth
freaks and dozed off! Before the car imploded or not?? I gather the idiot manager of that Home Depot got canned for even loading the car - release or
not.Crusoe - 8-2-2007 at 04:06 PM
The people in the front seat were reported to be be in the real estate and new housing and land development business in Loreto and La Paz.. Expats on
the run from San Diego and Ensenada. Dont laugh ....Its all true!!!!!!Bajalover - 8-2-2007 at 04:38 PM
Al, I haven't seen anything this funny in a long long time. I laughed for several minutes while looking at this "foolish" guy's car. What a joke, yet
I've seen many cars and vans in Baja loaded to the hilt.
