August 11-19: “De La Tierra” Art Exposition
La Casa Vieja presents “work from the heart of the earth” featuring Adalberto Pérez Meillón’s Mata Ortiz inspired acrylic paintings and mirrors, Sue McDevitt’s watercolors of Baja, and Martina’s sculptures of wood, stone and seed beading. The August 11 artists’ reception at 5pm is open to the public and includes live music by guitarist/vocalist Octavio Rivas, appetizers and no-host wine bar. La Casa Vieja is located between Casa de Piedra winery and Restaurant Mustafa in San Antonio de las Minas at Km. 93.5 Carr. Tecate-Ensenada. Hours: 11am-5pm, closed Mon. Free admission. If anyone gets there take the dirt road east from near Mustafas, past the bridge, turn left, you will see a sign high in the trees as you ford the dry creek..,,about a hundred feet in you will find a wonderful nursery with great plants under massive oaks...............You will also find an outdoor restaurant that spealizes in bar-bo-que goat............unusual and excellent. Oh! the sign proclaims Restaurant........

Maybe you should point out that where you are directing people has nothing to do with the art festival. A good restaurant but, irrelevant to the thread.

Golly, Dennis! I am so sorry that I deviated from the 'norm' here and 'added' color to the thread that I felt people might enjoy...............getting off ot the beaten track in Baja (?).

I shall attempt to follow your numerous examples of keeping on track in my comments in the future. I do believe that you have advised the masses most correctly when you say it has nothing to do with, whatever. It is just there and can be fun to explore. :biggrin:

For a much better and way bigger arts festival, you should go to Entijuanarte which is at CECUT, this year it's October 6 and 7. Or spend a day or two going to galleries in TJ.

I know Martina and she does real interesting work......Worth the ride

I guess everyone knows about Mustafa's apple pie...........Great people, Muslims living and conducting business in Mexico, with one of their top draws being as American as apple pie.....Great with ice cream on a hot day and most of the days are warm up there, A whole lot to see on this whole mesa............Old silver mines by the gross..........follow the dirt road and find a house built into a bank and there you will find one of the old mines.
