FISHING LICENSEs

shari - 8-3-2007 at 10:41 AM

Another NOmad showed up today wanting to go fishing without a license....so just anohter reminder to PLEASE GET YOUR FISHING LICENSES if you plan to come out our way...before you get here! the fishing is absolutely HOT right now and lots of folks have headed over to the pacific from the gulf side to fish and enjoy the cool weather. Bring lots of crocodiles for halibut, white scampi for grouper and calico and rapalas for the big boy yellow tails.

I picked up my fishing license in Santa Rosalia. (We tried to get one in Loreto but the office was closed. Also, FlyFishingPam said that the Pesca office there doesn't like to sell them...go figure.) Anyways, the Santa Rosalia office is located in the same building as the gym across from city hall. I chose the 1 year license for 430 pesos (I think). You'll need to go to the stationary store and purchase three No. 5 forms.

Anyways, fairly simple process if you know where to go. The Santa Rosalia personnel were very friendly and helpful.

know this has been covered before, but once again since this thread mentions Loreto. you can get a license here. office, by the marina/boat launch is open ONLY from about 8-2pm. which means you can't fly in the in the afternoon and get one the same day and be on your way.

no need to go buy forms...a 25 peso application fee covers the forms and the typist who fills them in. over to the pay station, NOT bank, thank goodness, about two long blocks, then back with receipt and you're good to go.

Another option if you are away from a town that sells them is to contact one of the US travel clubs and have them fax/email you the permit. Often same day with no travel; just a credit card to the phone or email. Find a printer or fax and you're all set !!

You even pay right there, no bank wait. And Freddy is a crackup, free entertainment

Would you like to contribute to the fight against shark norma 029? Then buy your fishing license in BCS. I have written a decent explaination of Baja California Surīs unique conservation fund that receives the monies for licenses purchased this way on my report pages at
http://www.bajabigfish.com/conv_report.html

The office of the state finances in Loreto is the place where payment is made and they are now open from 8:30-1pm monday through friday, which is why we are limited to purchasing licenses in a small time frame. The PESCA office cannot deal with money so they do not sell them, they only issue them. Iīm sorry if this sounds complicated but after all this is Mexico and weīre not making up the rules, only following them.

Shari if I can get you licenses I will as long as thereīs some way to send them up there. Do any of the busses travel there (Aguila or ABC) so that I could send things via baja pack to you?

For reference license prices in pesos are:

day = 124
week = 258
month = 370
year = 482

Shari, we have our fishing license for when we come see you in two weeks. Have our boat permit too for the Personal Watercraft so we can troll or fish the island. But I want to fish with Juan at least one day as well.

We got them all at Discover Baja in San Diego.

I WISH i could get blank ones but we canīt. i need names, state or residence, dates for fishing before we can buy them. If it would help and you have that informaiton we could work out some kind of payment set up and i can send you the licenses. donīt know how else to do it. :?:
