Therapeutic Massage?

Gypsy Jan - 8-9-2007 at 04:35 PM

Hubby has painfully swollen ankles. Any recommendations for a massage therapist in the Rosarito or nearby areas?

Thanks in advance.

He's on blood thinners and that is carefully monitored by his MD.

I'm just trying to find a way to alleviate the side effects.

Think you might want to see a chiropractor who can use untrasound to reduce the swelling.. A very powerful modality. If you were in Orange county I have just the doctor to see you.

I use Naproxin. Alleve. Don't take it forever as it can cause a Reflux problem.
Start at one gram, three times a day for two days and quickly taper off.

I hope you have been putting ice on it. that will also help reduce the swelling and give you some relief.

Swollen ankles can be a sign of heart problems and water retention. You might want to have a doctor look at them. Just a thought.....if caused by heart condition or diabetis you could take Furosemide 40 Mg. to reduce the water in his system. When you get home I would have him looked at by a doctor. Swollen feet can be signs of other more serious problems---and you will want to rule them out.

Swollen ankles usually indicates that the blood vessels in the lower extremities are not returning blood to the heart as efficiently as they should. Pressure stockings work really well in reducing the swelling. Edema can be an indicator of more serious problems, however, and a trip to a good M.D. is in order. Dealing with the symptoms is easy, it's what the symptoms mean that's important.

Like your husband, I'm on Coumadin (and a number of other cardiac drugs). To avoid the type of swelling you describe, my doctor put me on 80mg/day of Lasix (furosemide). I'm not a doctor and don't play one on TV, but if you can't get to see a real medic soon, try the "furosomida," available in any farmacia in Baja.

G-Jan... You asked for a referral. I can personally recommend this woman for massage and acupuncture:
(and yes, I realize Ensenada is a goodly hike down the road from Rosarito)

Dra. Ana Maria Obeso Appel
(664) 120-55-35

Jan I have a fantastic lady in Ensenada.

She does theraputic massage for our clients here. She may come to your home (maybe offer to pay extra for gas). Her name is Maribel ,her number is +52 (-646) -132-9013 She only speaks spanish. The owners here are in the spa business. They think she is one of the best therapists they have ever tried k ,

Many thanks for your kind comments and suggestions.

In addition, when I was collecting the mail today, I picked up a flyer for a new Rosarito massage establishment offering Ayurvedic and other therapies (and manicures and pedicures).

I will report again when there is more to bring to the Nomad table.

PS. If you are interested in contacting the aforementioned Ayurvedic massage place, send me a U2U. Since I know nothing about them, I do not want to recommend/post their info on the General Discussion board.
