Its not just Loreto----All of baja is subject to these damn projects. Its too bad, but, it was bound to happen. Where else can you go such a short distance and be in a whole different country---with a different language and customs. I suspect over the next ten years most of the beach areas of Mexico will be retirement communities. Even Lopez Mateos is getting development. Que Diablo?

Hook - 8-13-2007 at 12:10 PM

Does this article say the land IS for sale or that it has been sold?

And where is Llanos El Gallito?

Cypress - 8-13-2007 at 01:13 PM

Isn't it hot in Mulege this time of year? Jeez, some folk might actually break- out in a sweat.:tumble: Being hot and sweaty? :O Can you live with that?

Looks like the strip fronting the sea from the south end of the Serenidad airstrip, on south maybe as far as the microwave towers.

Russ - 8-13-2007 at 03:02 PM

In this area?

Don Alley - 8-13-2007 at 06:50 PM

Yes, but on the Sudcalifornia map it stretches farther south.

rpleger - 8-13-2007 at 07:36 PM

Great.....

Maybe some good jobs for some of our young people...this area needs a shot in the arm economically. I just hope whoever the developer is, does a good job.

capt. mike - 8-13-2007 at 08:04 PM

Richard i think that is the long strip of dirt owned by a rico mex atty lives in la paz. he wants to build condos, the for sale type but on leased land - and yes i hear he owns it all south of the fed airstrip to the microondas!!

well, i'd buy one if they were nice enough. i like landing, taxiing to my casa and relaxing right away.
heck, i do that now but i live in a trailer parque....;D

anybody willing to loosely translate

capt. mike - 8-13-2007 at 08:06 PM

motoged - 8-13-2007 at 10:32 PM

Nomads,
This area south of the Pemex on the hiway is full of large sand dunes and has a great beach....what a pity it is on the block...

Bob and Susan - 8-14-2007 at 06:17 AM

there are signs on the hiway that the property is NOT for sale

we wondered why someone would post signs that their propert was NOT for sale ...

jorgie - 8-14-2007 at 07:16 AM

OK. Just hope that you don't see development there that could care less about the "local people," and is instead designed on a scale to support a couple hundred thousand mainland Mexico people.

So someone else doesn't "sell" it, and take a big down payment, from some gringo.

The article sais nothing about a development

fdt - 8-14-2007 at 08:22 AM

The article posted by bajajudi is about the advertising of the sale of a strip of land called Llanos el Gallito by real estate companies called Invest Baja Sur and another called Casas Baja Sur for a price of $52 million dollars.
The note roughly sais that the owner of this piece of land Mario Fernandez Raya (he has titles that date back to 1977)is filling legal action against the Meza Romero family, and you can read the names yourself, for the advertising of his land for sale with "apocryphus" title, in other words false title.
The note is not refering to any development, it is a policiaca or police note that uncovers corruption on behalf of a city official, a notary public and even the mayor of Mulege.

Today apered another note in regards to the same were the have fired the Sindico Reyes Machado and others will follow including the Notary as the PGR is taking action and they could all get the slammer for the illegal sale of property, who knows maybe even the mayor Pedro Osuna gets canned.

Cypress - 8-14-2007 at 11:36 AM

fdt Sounds like somebody stepped into some serious feces down around Mulege.:O

bajajudy - 8-14-2007 at 11:37 AM

FDT I didnt think that it said anything about selling the property but I figure that it is probably a property someone wants to sell(I thought this because of the ad attached) but doesnt have ownership.
A little local politics thrown in!
BTW there is property all over the place here that says"This property is not for sale" That is so some unsuspecting fool doesnt come along and try to buy it. Without the sign, crooks can collect a down payment for the sale and split. That has happened a lot here. Land grabbing everywhere.

capt. mike - 8-14-2007 at 04:18 PM

wow....little old mulege is a peyton place afterall, just like i thot!
way too funny, thx all.
i love this stuff.

The plot thickens

fdt - 8-15-2007 at 08:08 AM

Invest Baja Sur now sais it has nothing to do with that property. This note on todays paper sais that not even theire web site has it anymore and that they don't want to have anything to do with this corruption scandal that involves even the mayor.
http://www.oem.com.mx/elsudcaliforniano/notas/n382336.htm

Is that what I think I see?

Dave,
I must admit that I did ride my bike on the beach....and that was before I learned that it was illegal....so I don't do it anymore.

As for the wife....she won't return to Baja since being mugged and robbed at knifepoint by a taxi driver, and then dumped on the hiway near airport in San Jose in 2000....

As for the 20 lashes....I only dream of administering them to the taxi driver but I will never have that pleasure....

As for the kids....I sold them years ago
