A Good Baja Dog

Gypsy Jan - 8-16-2007 at 05:12 PM

Hubby was at the supermarket in Rosarito yesterday and left the dogs in the car to go in to make a quick purchase. (Usually I am with him to baby sit the car and dogs, but he had dropped me off for another errand.)

He left the windows rolled slightly down to let air circulate. A man snuck up to the left rear passenger door and stuck his hand inside the window, trying to open the door.

Short story short, our German Shepherd, who has never had to do or done anything like this before, bit his hand, hard.

He screamed (I presume), and the parking lot security guards ran over and captured him.

They called a nurse for first aid and the police for an arrest.

By the time Hubby returned (after just a few minutes), it was all over except for the arrival of the police. He asked if he should stay to talk to them and they said, "No, no problem, you can go.”

I hope he (the "perp") had his shots...don't want your dog to catch anything from that low-life!

That's just a good dog no matter what country your in. I'm surprised someone would try to break into a vehicle with a German Shepherd sitting in it:o

GOOD DOG!!!

Maybe he was trying to steal your dog.:?::?:
But Fido, satisfied with his current masters, wasn't ready for another one and let him know in a doglike fashion.:?::?::lol::lol::lol:
All kidding aside, hurray for Fido, and I hope he got him good.:P:P

The "rest of the story."

The shepherd is the family baby. They have two rotts that barely fit...and it's a BIG car. ;D

The thief must have been blind.

Oh boy... Steak dinner for THAT dog! Way to go! I'm sorry that it even had to happen, but how nice that it turned out in the good guys (dogs) favor for once!

This is a message for my colleague:

Great job buddy - keep up the good work - we have a reputation to live up to!

Great job Buddy!
I like how you related that he had never done anything like that before. I gives me encouragement that Duke, our Lab would do the same. He is such a lover baby mommas boy boot licker but he gets really seriously agro around mexicans. It's nothing we have taught him or even encouraged, but I hope he never bites one of my mexican friends. I think he would help if our camp was ever attacked by hostile forces :(

Hey, y'all,

Thanks for the positive comments.

Dave mentioned that we have other dogs.

The two Rotts will hang back and let the baby German Shepherd take care of things unless the situation gets serious.

Our dogs are exercised and worked in obedience training daily. They love kids and we have many people going in and out of our home on a regular basis.

We introduce the visitors to the dogs, the dogs then ignore them.

Seriously, if you want to guard your home and property, bring a dog into your life, pick an appropriate breed, learn how to train/interact with them in the proper manner (i.e. Dog Whisperer), then you will have a devoted family member that will give you unconditional love and devotion, but, can't emphasize this enough, dogs need to be exercised and taught to behave in their pack on a daily basis. No "Throw and Go" with food".

Dog lover signing out, y'all.
