When I die???

Zgringo - 8-17-2007 at 03:51 PM

I've heard horror stories about when Americans die in Mexico were the family has a major problem and end up paying under the table very large amounts of money to remove the body of a love one.
I could care less what happens to my body, but my family is very concerned how to get me out of Mexico. They want me buried in the family plot. I've been in Mexico 10 years and my question is:
Is there a way in advance to make preperations to have my body removed without having my family having to get involved in the under-the table payoff here?
What is the process for having a body removed from Mexico?

Yes, there is a way to do that in advance, funeraria del Carmen in Tijuana does it.

Ask for Hector Gonzalez, the owner.

If you die in Mexico call the american consulate right away and they are supposed to take care of it . if you are to dead to call then get some one to do it for you.

Egads, they send you to Mexico for 10 years and now they are goiing to fight over the dead body. All they need to do is bring the station wagon down and prop you up in the back seat, wear sunglasses, and hope they don't make you get out at the military checkpoints.

We only have 1 check point between here and Mexicali and I rent a house to the military guys that run it. I'll tell them they get 1 months rent free to let me go... what about crossing the border into the USA... any problems there?

Cremate my corpse and dispose of the ashes.:)

I was stopped at Los Algodones crossing and sent to secondary, then taken and locked in a small room while they checked under the seats in my van. Had a sleeping bag and they thought it might have contained a dead body. They told me they catch quite a few people trying to bring bodies into the USA.

Ok I guess my question is...If you have a death certificate can you bring a body into the USA to be delivered to a morturary?

My problem is my sister and kids think I'm crazy for living here in the first place and think I'm unconsiderate to not even care what happens to my body. Myself, I really don't care, I'll be dead.

maybe some of the memorials in this thread are failed attempts to get across the border

When I die and they lay me to rest....going to the place that I love best....Put my ashes in the Sea of Cortez and recommend me to the Spirit in the Sky.
