Bob and Susan,

You guys are killing me, water skiing and theeeennn dinner at El Patron! What a great day that must have been.

Loved that place when it was Almeja and love it now. Drinking a beer with your bare feet in the sand, perfect!

What a great scallop c-cktail they used to serve also. Just fresh shucked scallops in a big glass with a thin c-cktail sauce (clamato and lime I think) with crackers.

Just baja living vicariously for the moment.

Keep it coming.

Ken

ONly 17 drops of rain in Asuncion but a hot day for here...had to turn on the fan for a bit! the Baja Warriors are enjoying the heat though and rescued a sinking pick up so are baja heros here now! the seas were glassy and perfect for their jetski day exploring the islands here. Juan was fishing yesterday with Mr.Warrior but still no yellow tail showing up.

Bob and Susan - 8-21-2007 at 10:57 AM

11:50 AM

susan is making salads then i have been assigned the duty of launching the seadoos...

the guests want to fish from the kayaks at dusk...if conditions permit we'll be "on-the-water" again:o

i need a vacation!!!:lol::lol:

Cypress - 8-21-2007 at 11:15 AM

Bob, You just have to take mini-vacations; a nap here, a nap there and a cool Bohemia whenever possible.:D If all else fails, crank up the panga and go fishing.:tumble:

It was either JR or DK

I can assure you sharks, it was not JR.

Seems I just read a report where the other guy ate there though. Imagine if all nomads printed up some stickers and everywhere we went we stuck them where ever we could. Wouldn't that be fun. :barf: That way we could leave our mark just like my dog does whenever he smells something he likes.

Mexray - 8-21-2007 at 06:17 PM

...a few Streakers never hurt anyone...

What's that...pssst..."the subject was 'steekers', not 'streakers'...

Oh, never mind...:o

i share the same sentiment - what i do is NEVER read the off topic or political sections here. As if the pundits there really can make a diff in how people live, USA or Baja......yeah right.

anyone who takes this internet drivel seriously needs a life or real job.
this is all pure entertainment - nothing more or less.......:lol:

Thanks Mike

That was an old post, I admit being suckered back in by some of the board bullies. God, I hate bullies.
On the good side, I got a lot of messages telling me to hang in there and met a few cool people since. I am impressed with your Latin, a man of many talents it seems... looking forward to hoisting a couple. I hope you are staying out of the heat somewhere.:smug:

Not to hijack this thread, but this just reminded me of something that happened in Sacramento years ago when streaking was fashionable. I had a rather nice looking, goofy, barmaid working for me,who at one day decided to streak a bar in Rancho Cordova. When running bareassed naked through that saloon a customer hollered" hey lady how about a c-cktail ?" and she parked herself at the bar. 10 minutes later, her boyfriend, who had been waiting with the getaway car at the backdoor, came in to see what happened to his love. Ahhh, the good old days.:biggrin:

no - i am sufferin in this furnace................

but please do get on line if as you can and check in during your trip. well...........maybe not since its a cabo boys excursion! i pity the rookies!!!

i may or may not make it over to hoist with ya'all. with me its so spur of the moment at times.

and to answer your kind comments - i fancy myself as just an aging drunk (at times) who happens to like flying small dangerous planes to baja and mexico as often as i can and meeting good peoples IN PERSON FACE TO FACE INSTEAD of relying on the vastness of cyborspace for screening.

so have a blast Cap, wing it safely and i look forward to seeing it all on the website after you've edited out all the good parts to protect the innocent!

Minnow - 8-23-2007 at 10:50 AM

Nice posts Mike. AKA skidmark. Who is feeding you your info. I know where skidmark or landing strip came from. Please, don't buy into those peoples BS.

Hook - 8-23-2007 at 06:04 PM

Hey Mike, beeg grand opening of the San Carlos airstrip recently. In the local papers down there. I drove by and the berms are vamonosed, new paint and even a new windsock. New fencing around it too. Didnt notice any landing lights but didnt really look, either.

Check your contacts.........you may have a new clientele base.

capt. mike - 8-24-2007 at 06:56 AM

wow! that's some killer news Hook.
i asked the developer to keep me in the know, well guess not.
i'll find what i can.
if you get any links to news local papers or whatever lemme know.
i am very surprised they got it permitted with Guaymas so close.

but $$ talks!!

i better go see what the lot prices are asap.

Hook - 8-24-2007 at 08:56 PM

The "opening" may have been more ceremonial than declaring it open for business. I dont know anything about the development adpects but I do know there is alot of activity out there.

One of the San Carlos webmasters posted this email address to find out about the availability of the strip. eddie@grupotucson.com or info@si-sancarlos.com

It's a Grupo Caballero gig, if you are familiar with that outfit. So, there's the deep pockets that it took to re-open it.

[Edited on 8-25-2007 by Hook]

capt. mike - 8-25-2007 at 06:49 AM

thx Hook - yeah i talked with Eddie via email so i now got the skinny.
and of course - Grupo Caballero is the numero uno developer in the area, the old man has been promoting san carlos since 1962 when they 1st planned the old Posada which is where we started staying there in the early 80s. So he has pull and clout. this is not yet totally officionally open - but they are close and soon will release lotes sales.
for start its going to be hangar leases. well - that's a start.

i'd live/retire in san carlos in a heart beat if i could get an airpark lot.

Hook - 8-25-2007 at 09:23 AM

Well, then, let's stay in touch as we bought a lot in the Ranchitos last week and will begin constructing SOMETHING shortly; probably the ubiquitous gringo trailero/palapa/ramada/bodega to start while we consider what else to construct......if anything.

capt. mike - 8-25-2007 at 01:46 PM

hey man that's cool - i'd do that too, run in another trailer, maybe a park model and slowly build palapa style around it.
is the ranchitos the ones i saw under residential on the si-sancarlos website?

Hook - 8-25-2007 at 03:10 PM

I expect that you saw the Bella Esperanza development. Caballero has been marketing those as "eco-ranchettes". The old joke among the RE agents is that's a clever marketing term for lots with no utilities out to them yet. They have been for sale for AT LEAST five years. A water main has been run out close to there but it is not out to the individual lots. No elec. or Carlos Slim lines out there either and of course no municipal sewage. But it is beautiful out there. The view from the airstrip lots would be similar.

The SW end of the "new" airstrip actually is adjacent to a section of the Ranchitos. If on Google Earth, the Ranchitos are the gridlines below and generally south and east of the airstrip. They have underground water and above ground elec. and "Slimlines", so I expect we would be on Prodigy. Dont think there is cable.

We actually began dismissing any lots near the end of the runway once we found out that it would be re-opening.......although I doubt that the amount of air traffic will really be an issue. I grew up on more than a few military bases and love to see planes taking off and landing..........and those were much louder. My Dad was a C-130 pilot for many years.
