I only know one person who has bought a new car here and the only thing that they could get the dealer to do was pay for and handle totally the
registration...not the tax. If I remember correctly.

seems like longlegs had a lengthy discussion on another thread re buying a new car from a dealer in La Paz...you could search out that thread, I'm
sorry I don't remember the topic/name or try u2u'ing her...

I bought VW, so my information is VW dealer-specific. You pretty much pay the asking price...IF you pay cash, there may be a slight markdown, but
very slight...they offered me a better discount if I paid in USD....but the exchange rate they offered was so low that I was farther ahead doing the
conversion to pesos myself at a higher exchange rate. Also, I bought at year-end/new model year point in time & interestingly enough, I bought a
2007 because they gave me a better price on the 2007 than on the 2006's left on the lot!! And interestingly enough, Mexico doesn't have all the sales
we'd see in the USA with each holiday....no July 4th blowout, no Cinco De Mayo "overstock" sales! No, we aren't in Kansas anymore, Toto!
