Those spotfins look a lot like an Atlantic Croaker. :) Down at the deep-water oil rigs off the mouth of the MS River they're called Golden Croakers. Taste a little strong, but not bad.

baitcast - 8-30-2007 at 12:53 PM

Just joshing with you Tomas, just got to much time on my hands, but going to take care of that in Oct.,with a little luck will be in San Francisquito the 5th,and with a little more luck should have a beach catch pic or two,I hope!

Russ,

How did you get the white shark to bite???? let me guess, he bit the "Gulp" . 400 times the natural feeding frenzy:lol::lol:

Russ - 8-31-2007 at 09:31 AM

Tomas, Good guess but I believe Pescador had his feet in the water. 1,000 X and crudely natural.

Cypress - 8-31-2007 at 12:42 PM

baitcast You've got a pound or two of counterfit scallops there. Tomas Tierra. About those Seirra, called 'em "Spanish Mackerel" way back when. :) We'd salt 'em, smoke 'em, broil 'em, fry 'em and enjoy 'em. :D:D

Oh man, first Skipjack Joe gives away one of my secrets and now you go and give away my super secret. I guess those boats from Punta Chivato have been following me around with spyglasses to see what my secret was and it was something as simple as "sticking my feet in the water to create a feeding frenzy"

Jim, I knew you'd have a snappy come back but the truth is ..... the air over here freshens when your chumming.:(

Russ - 9-3-2007 at 05:56 AM

Thomas, I'm not really to sure. I thought it was a green jack but the mouth and eye placement don't look quite right.

Russ - 9-3-2007 at 06:22 AM

Found a goog photo ID. Called a Big Eye Jack

Big eye Jack 2.jpg - 47kB

Minnow - 9-3-2007 at 06:54 AM

baitcast - 9-3-2007 at 07:27 AM

Bigjaw Leatherjacket, found in large numbers in baja norte on the beach, but not as big as the pic.

Igor thats the only fish I ever caught that could swim backwards with the exception of some large eels we caught in the Philipines at night on plugs, whats the name of these guys?:?:

Halboo - 9-3-2007 at 08:23 AM

My first marlin

baitcast - 9-3-2007 at 08:29 AM

By the way the dorsal fin of the bigjaws have some very painful stuff in them, careful when handling, can hurt a bunch!

Cypress - 9-3-2007 at 09:23 AM

baitcast About those backwards-swimming fish. Ribbon fish? Silver in color, toothy, make good kingfish bait. :bounce:

Pipefish.

You can see them off the pier at Escondido. They have an itty bitty mouth. I don't know how they're caught at all. They're a kid's fish, really. You're right - it's a kick to see them swim backwards. They must have a low IQ.

Taco de Baja - 9-3-2007 at 05:30 PM

This Yellow was in less than 2 feet of water. As it was the last day of our vacation last year, he got set free......

Sure was fun bringing him in though

Note the Pelicans in the background waiting for more small fish to be driven up.
