Sentri out of Rosarito through T.J. directions?

Ok, what is the best way to the Sentri out of Rosarito going through T.J. ?

Thanks Dano I showed this map to Antonio a local I know and he says that this is ok but to stay in the fast lane until Indepencia and then go down take the circle back to Paseo Tijuana. Your help and Fernando's appreciated. Now, if "old hippie and any other Nomad in Rosarito this Saturday I will be down at "Rene's" going out of Rosarito at Noon. Would like to meet other Nomads in the area if they are around. Sentri in Mexicali so easy compared to these Sentri exits it San Diego area. Later, bajafun777

My own route is to take Paseo de los Heroes to Independencia, but if traffic is really jammed, a lot of triangulation is needed to get to Heroes, so Ferna's wider route is a tad more conservative.

Bajafun, I'll be staying in playas this weekend. There's an art festival at the main park by the beach. Lot's of people, food, and fun.

I get to the Sentri lanes by taking the highway along the border, stay in the right lane, it's faster, and then barge into the left lane just before the traffic light. Look for CA plates to barge in front of. US drivers will usually jam on their brakes. Keep in the left lane and go past the west entrance to the border. Scoot over to the right just where everybody on the right is merging left and get off at the first entrance to the service road, go almost to plaza rio, make a right (north), go to the first glorietta (traffic circle) and bully your way into the next lane to the left where everybody in that lane is trying to get into your lane. Do a 360 aroung the glorietta using a middle lane. That glorietta uses traffic lights and two or three cars are allowed through the lights after they turn red if you're going fast enough.

Head southbound out of the glorietta over the river on a road that parallels the road you took north to the glorietta. Definitely accelerate out of the glorietta, not a time to be timid.

Then when you get to the next glorietta on the north side or the "river" do a 270 around that and you'll be going west towards the border. That glorietta uses stop signs instead of stop lights and everybody ignores them. Keep you foot on the gas, acceleration here is also good.

Then at the next glorietta go half way around and you'll still be heading west. Keep to the left and you'll be in the Sentri lane. Stay in the left lane as far as you can and still make it over to the right lane. Be prepared to barge back into the slower moving left lane if there are enough busses in the right lane to block its Sentri entrance.

Easy, huh? Millions of cars, and the trick is to keep your foot on the gas and go faster than everyone else. Problem is everybody knows that trick.

I actually enjoy the drive, it gives you a real sense of accomplishment and makes insurance payments a very reasonable thing to do. :cool:

Fernie, my friend says instead of turning to go over the bridge to San Diego go pass that and take the exit onto Indepencia and go down this and in the glorietta on Indepencia that you then go back to Paseo Tijuana to the Sentri lines. He calls the fast lane the one which goes past the first turn off back to San Diego over the bridge. Man Old Hippie I do not know about bullying my way into line with a big truck I have as I want no dents. Later, bajafun777

If you're in Rosarito take Blvd 2000 to Otay and save yourself a couple of bucks in tolls. Plus, no traffic!

I had no problem with going to Otay border exit but had the same problem of finding the right place to turn off to get to the Sentri line. Got on the over pass bridge to hell and saw it from the top but no way off to get to it. Mexico does not make it easy for anyone to find the Sentri and again the easiest by far is Mexicali as it tells you well in advance with a big sign and very easy to get into. If someone knows the best way to get on to the Sentri lane from Otay I am open to that also. Later-------------bajafun777

Take Blvd 2000 which turns into Blvd Industrial. Watch your speed once off of 2000! Also watch for the one or two hidden stop signs. Industrial is under construction where you want to turn so follow the detour (once you HAVE to make a right turn). Make that right then go straight up to Bellas Artes (about 3 blocks). Bellas Artes is a major road so you can't miss it. Turn left on to Bellas Artes. Go about 5-6 blocks. There is an OXXO on your right. Just after the OXXO there is a road on the right. Make that right, JUST BEFORE THE RAMP GOING UP TO THE REGULAR LANES. When you make the right there will be a car wash on your left. This road takes you to the SENTRI lane.

If you take the "usual" route to the Otay crossing from Industrial Blvd, get and STAY in the right lane. Just BEFORE you go over the bridge to hell, take the ramp marked Bellas Artes. at the bottom of the ramp, you will see the car wash across the street. Take the road/street right next to the car wash, it's marked SENTRI....and you are there.

That doesn't work too well right there at Belles Artes since it is a bear to go from the far right lane on Belles Artes to the center lane for the left turn. When I used it before, I took the first right hand turn off of Belles Artes and made a u-turn on that side street and then I was lined up to cross Belles Artes over to the road next to the car wash. Little tricky.
