Going to camp South of San Felipe for Thanksgiving for the 4th straight year. Up till this year we have always stayed at Punta Estrella- Us is about 75-100 people (ages range from a few months to 65 years) all in Motorhomes, Trailers, Toy Haulers...

I am looking for other locations we should consider South of San Felipe where we can set-up on the beach and get fresh water for the rigs as we generally stay for nine days.

Are there any Campos with some trees for shade where we can camp?

$$$ is not really an issue- Clean and safe are the biggest considerations. I will be doing a recon trip the weekend of the 21st of September so any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I am not sure if it has what you seek, other than trees... but Nuevo Mazatlan (Km. 32) is a tree shaded campground... Check it out: http://www.vivabaja.com/nm/ and when we last camped there: http://vivabaja.com/806/

Good idea fly-boy.

It is a simple camping area with the luxery of trees planted in the late 1960's by Nuevo Mazatlan founder Luis Castellanos Moreno... This was one of the original campos between San Felipe and Puertecitos along with Percebu and Coloradito. Most of the others are actually private home 'campos'.

There is water faucets around the camp and cold showers and flush toilets... The beach is nice!

A more distant option is Campo Beluga at Gonzaga Bay... Campground with palapas, showers, toilets... see http://vivabaja.com/207/page3.html BUT, only drive there from Hwy. 1 at Laguna Chapala (35 graded dirt miles) not south from Puertecitos (50 miles mostly very rough... too rough for a moho.)

Help a fellow Baja lover out!!! I keep telling my self some day I will have all of the time I want to explore the whole pennisula but until then I have to rely on those with more time or sense than me!
