Now that the storm has passed, everyone has had a chance to assess their own properties and most say it was not as bad as john or as bad as they were anticipating. Congratulations have been passed around and I join them in my joy for them.

We learned from Hurricane John that Mulege suffered the most severe and widespread damage because of the river flooding. I see some posts here from Bob & Susan and from Russ, but nothing about the river, because they don't live along the river, or even in Mulege.

I have received emails from 3 people attaching the same set of photos from Miranda Yee. It shows flooding of the river road, the Serinidad Airstrip and some houses that I don't recognize are surrounded by water. One of the people who forwarded these emails said, "it wasn't too bad", but what does that mean? No specifics. What about The Orchard? The fact that Marv or anyone along the river has not reported makes me think that they were impacted and are unable to report. I hope I'm wrong. Did the water get into our houses? Did the water get to our yards and landscaping? It seems we are the last to know. Like last year, the whole world wasn't aware of Mulege's plight for several days, except here on the Bajanomad. Last year it took me two weeks to get anybody to go over to The Orchard and open up my house to air it out. Of course, by that time it had been looted.

Paladin...we have been told that there are reasons why your questions weren't being answered yet. My posts regarding that was merely to advise patience. That information will come when it is safe to reveal it. I have enjoyed your subsequent humor.This information Sharks and I are seeking is not forthcoming and that is agonizing, given what we went through last year. We have a lot at stake there, physically, emotionally and financially. This is a major, potentially disastrous event that impacts us personally....right now! I get that it is not as bad as John, but how bad (or good) is it? I fear the reasons why nobody on the river is reporting. The silence doesn't seem like its all good.

OK! I just got an email from someone in The Orchard. We were all spared. Whew! She did say that the flooding over the road was down by marv's house and The Serinidad. Last year we at The Orchard got hit harder because the surge that came down the river cut a new path through The Orchard. There is a bend just before The Orchard and last year, the river ignored the bend and went straight. Shark's house was badly damaged by the surge and the house next to his was wiped out....right off it's foundation and washed away. Mine had seven feet of standing muddy water inside and it was just over the eaves outside, wiping out everything inside and out, not to mention the work it took to restore the house; electrical, plumbing, pressure wash, bleach, all wood removed, repainted inside and out, furniture, appliances, artwork all gone. So, I'm a little edgy, but now feel greatly relieved. Marv, I hope you and Cathy are doing OK, and that your house didn't flood. Let us know when you can.

Thanks Tony for the info. They would have to see it to really understand it there during high water events. As we were in harms way during John with severe flooding, that was fresh water not a salt water surge. We are fortunately upstream far enough this time. I'm not convinced however that water didn't make it up into our yard. I'll bet our spa is has been filled again.

i guess i should have posted something, sorry. the storm surge was the issue on this one along with the extremely high tide. yes the river road was under water at least in front of my house. it reached only my front gates and all is well. i havent heard of anyone having water in there homes and everyone was alot more prepared, thats why not much posting going on. everyone was busy preparing and then having to put everything back when its over instead of posting. i heard el patrons restaurant got hit pretty hard but i havent seen it .

Everything is OK at Villa Maria Isabell.
Nada, Nothing, My dog (Grunt), did not even wake up.

Waiting a few days to out everything back in place.
