Is there a shuttle from La Paz to Los Cabo Airport? Or vehicle storage?

I'm flying up north on the 15th out of Cabo and need to get there and back from La Paz. Has anyone used a good shuttle they can recommend?

If that seems unwieldy, is there a place near the airport I can leave my car (reasonably) for two weeks?

Hmmmmm.....might be a good excuse for me to find out if there are any upholstery shops in Cabo that have what I have in mind but can't find in La Paz!! We could work out a deal if you're so inclined.

I don't think there's a shuttle besides taking a bus. There are some old posts about getting to the SJD airport by others who have done it...did ya try a search?

My error, I did not try a search, however, Legs, I'll pay the gas and you can use my Jeep to make the trips! :biggrin:

The Bus leaves el Centro La Pa' every hour or so (there are different routes and different classes so you'll always find something). There is an executive and a regular bus ranging from 16-25 dollars. It will take you to the airport. Actually the exec one goes to the airport and the other drops you off at the freeway and you can walk or taxi in the final 2km. The return is the same except you have to go to transition at the SJ bus station. You can also rent a one way car for about $70-100 w/ins or so. Or you can find a shuttle, they exist but they will cost upwards of $50-100/person unless its full. The bus is excellent, fast and safe. You can't beat it. They have movies, AC and nice seats.

It is possible to pick up the bus at other locations but this is after your first experience. For the first time you can go to the bus station on the malecon in advance to buy your ticket, ask questions, they offer free executive lounge, internet including free computer, coffee, conversation etc. You can not beat it - best bus service in the world.

As for leaving a car, You can leave a car at the airport the cost is not high just daily fees but do not ask permission they will say no $60-100/week. Or you can leave in a long term parking for example across the street from the SJD airport. or anywhere its safe like with friends.

You can not beat the bus, take the executive. Give yourself 3 hours to get from Lapa' to SJD.

There's more to it, but this will get you started. Have fun!

Longlegs, have you visited the Vanessa Upholstery store on that street that Fojardores becomes as it turns one way though La Paz. Its the largest supplier and has almost everything. It's my impression that La Paz has many more upholsterers than SJ due to the larger number of boats. I regularly use them for all my needs and get chairs done with stitching for about $200 pesos. Please let us know which you choose and how it works out. We all need a good upholsterer now and then.

At the risk of catching hell for hijacking this thread... we have also had alot of work done by Vanessa's. Bought a couple of love seats and they upholstered some lounges with sunbrella. Great selection albeit a bit pricey. Great quality work.
Oh ya... also bought some FABULOUS drapes to block out the sun... they are the best!

There is secure car storage (even covered for more money) 1 mile from the airport in San Jose del Cabo.... I've used this place once and found it to be very good, though not as cheap as the storage in La Paz:

Okay, I'm back....Bruno, I will admit (and know I will catch it big for typing this)I am not a major fan of dead dorado. However, that you quote Dorothy Parker speaks quite highly for you in my book.

gnukid: Vanessa's is on Padre Kino and I've been in there, as well as La Parisian on Revolution & every other upholstery or fabric shop I've come across over the past 3-4 years! My problem is that I can envision in my head the "feeling" I'm looking for, and there is no BLUE/ORANGE/YELLOW/BLACK or BROWN in it!!! :lol:

I guess I can safely say that I don't want a local-look print.

Actually, I've already decided to have my leather sofa and leather recliner & ottoman reupholstered in Sunbrella!! Great minds...! My problem is that I have another chair that I want to be a print, so until I find that, I won't decide on the color of Sunbrella for the other 3 pieces. Having ALL the upholstered pieces in my room solids is too much for me. Need a print to break up the monotony, but coordinate! And it all needs to be super heavy duty because my dogs & cat enjoy acting like Lords of the manor! I've even done an on-line search for Sunbrella prints...without finding one that really grabbed me. :no:

Vanessa's fabrics are worth the cost, but their labor is very pricey!! I'll have the work done elsewhere.

DearOldBroad, Dorothy Parker is one of my fav's. I would have loved to meet her. Any girl who could keep up with the boys at the The Algonquin Round Table is Ok in my little mind.
