Someone just gave me a few 1973 twenty peso bills. Can these old bills be used as currency? I'd rather see them converted to ice cold ballenas than
use them as bookmarks. Any information is much appreciated amigos.
I'm not up on all the devaluations etc.

It's my impression that a pick-up load of them might buy you a beer, any value as collector items notwithstanding.

The old peso is not legal currency.

That's what I thought. Oh well, they are a good addition to my collection of valueless foreign paper currency. Thanks!

Back in 1973, the exchange rate would have made those bills worth around $8-$10.

Prior to the FIRST devaluation in 1976, the Peso had
been legally fixed to the American Dollar at 12.5 to 1.
A single peso was worth 8 cents American.
