Judy I'm kinda curious, what types of things did you learn during or after this latest storm as far as preparation and planning? Did you have any
"gee, I'm glad we did this" or "crap, we should have done that" moments?
water? gas? ice? beer? dog biscuits?
I know you and Jaime well enough to know that you were probably doing OK, but spent most of your time helping friends and neighbors struggle through.

The only problem we had ,and it was a big one, was that our generator petered out on us. Long story but it didnt work. Fortunately we didnt lose
anything in the freezer because the minute the power went off I grabbed frozen milk containers, two bags of emergency ice and some meats and closed it
and never opened it again.
We were without power for almost 5 days. A friend who lives in Florida swore that if you duck taped and never opened your freezer and refrigerator it
would last for at least 7 days...
The good news is that my refrigerator needed cleaning so I took the opportunity to do so!
Still giving out mangos and limones in the neighborhood. The good news here is that we still have mangos on the tree.
The one thing that I was very happy that we did, was get the storm shutters up before any big wind arrived. They will stay up, too, until Oct.Hook - 9-12-2007 at 01:59 PM

We put our parakeets in the bodega and the chickens huddled up together under the passion fruit vine.
The okra is still producing but that weird red one doesnt seem to be edible.

If it isnt run much, the clogged carb is probably the result of old fuel and it's byproducts when it sours. Consider using a product like Stabil. I
put it in my dinghy outboard and other IC engines that I dont use much.
