Nice

BFS - 9-13-2007 at 07:38 AM

Looks great you two. Congratulations.
So where is this place anyway?
Im always looking over my left shoulder as I drive down south hoping to spot the lighthouse in the distance (or the bikini!!) but havent had any luck. I stopped somewhere near Playa El Burro thinking I spotted it but i think it was a hallicination after too many sunflower seeds.

Alec

edinnopolo - 9-13-2007 at 07:42 AM

I think you're WAAAAYYY? too far south when you're at El Burro. Right Frambes:?::?:

Beautiful !

djh - 9-13-2007 at 07:44 AM

Thanks again for sharing your photos.

bajajudy - 9-13-2007 at 08:27 AM

It really is a great looking place. All the best!

I assume the you sealed the lighthouse before taking the scaffolding down?(and all the buildings)

Bob H - 9-13-2007 at 09:34 AM

Wow, what progress you have made since I first started following your project over the last five years or so. Audrey and I plan to stopping by during our October trip down (first two+ weeks). We'll be winging it on the way down and back.

Bob and Susan - 9-13-2007 at 09:34 AM

the sealer really doesn't do that well...
i tried it and i have a LONG stick:biggrin:

we plan on painting to get the color correct for all the units
we just painted the garage
i just now have to make sure the comex guys mix correctly

location...
we're 8 miles south of the pemex on hwy1 just south past town
it takes about 10 minutes

we're north of burro which is south of santispac
we're about 3 miles north of santispac
santispac is just around the corner when you're on the water

you can actually see the lighthouse from the road now that it has some color:saint::saint:

bajajudy - 9-13-2007 at 09:42 AM

Ok if you are not going to seal the concrete(bad idea in my opinion) then at least use Osel paint...it is the best!

Bob and Susan - 9-13-2007 at 09:46 AM

the comex paint i have has a sealer in it plus...

the stucco color coat has a sealer too but that stuff doesn't work

i'll report the damage later...for sure:lol::lol:

bajajudy - 9-13-2007 at 10:36 AM

What we used is painted on before the paint(the Osel also has sealer in it)....
Without it(i e before the building was sealed and painted) when John came through, we had water coming through our electrical outlets.

docsmom - 9-13-2007 at 11:46 AM

Bob & Susan,

WOW!

How lucky you are to be living your dream!

Your place looks wonderful and although it'll be a couple of years before we can come see you, we will eventually be there!

Please clarify the pricing on your website. The units look great, and the communal kitchen is such a great idea. I've been watching all along but just recently saw a reference to "all inclusive". Is the published pricing all inclusive or is that another pricing structure?

It doesn't really matter, 'cuz we'll be there as soon as we can. I just wanted to understand what you're offering.

Thanks for all your postings! I'm living vicariously through you, you lucky dogs!

Roberto - 9-13-2007 at 11:52 AM

Note: This is not meant as a flame, attack, etc, etc. on anyone.

Luck is what causes things to happen with no intervention of the individual involved - like winning the lottery, no skill involved. I'm just guessing here, but I would bet "luck" had little to do with Bob and Susan's place being what it is today. Some words that come to mind are: patience, hard work, planning.

I would say a much better word is fortunate, and that they most certainly are!

That all being said and done, best of "luck" in the future.:lol::lol::lol:

Minnow - 9-13-2007 at 06:04 PM

Roberto, you have never met his wife. There has to be some luck involved there, somewhere.

Minnow - 9-14-2007 at 09:00 AM

Do you still off a free car wash with every three day package? Las time I was there I got a free car wash, and I would hate to think the service has gone down hill.:?:

amir - 9-14-2007 at 09:18 AM

A new landmark, for sure!

Will try to stop by and take pictures next time we drive through...

Enjoy your dream!

bajadock - 9-14-2007 at 09:22 AM

CONGRATS. Also thanks for your humor and advice on nomad. I'm going to frame your edit on my septic tank design.

Russ - 9-14-2007 at 07:56 PM

Just got back from La Paz late this afternoon and saw you dream from the hwy. Nice!

Roberto - 9-14-2007 at 08:14 PM

Bob, you want me to bring down a load of ULSD when I come down in November?:lol:

docsmom - 9-14-2007 at 08:27 PM

Roberto,
Of course I recognize it isn't luck that brought Bob and Susan to their dream. It's determination, fortitude, and the adventurers spirit that allowed them to pursue their dream. In "lucky" I only meant that they're "fortunate" to have had the dream and the fortitude to see it to completion. And I'd be surprised if they don't fall asleep each night thinking how "lucky" they are to have realized their dream.
Bob & Susan, I hope you heard my message and how envious and respectful I am of you both.
Good luck!

Very well said!

bajalera - 9-14-2007 at 09:37 PM

What a wonderful lighthouse. Congratulations!

Packoderm - 9-14-2007 at 09:41 PM

I like the lighthouse too. It really adds an extra dimension when viewed from a distance as in the photo. It might not hurt to put some kind of light up on top of the lighthouse so airplanes don't crash into it at night and/or so that it can serve as a landmark at night.

Packoderm - 9-14-2007 at 09:43 PM

Oh yeah. You never answered my question: Is there going to be some kind of shade structure/structures?

Bob and Susan...

Mexray - 9-14-2007 at 10:17 PM

...Your new 'Baja Space Needle' looks really great with it's new 'coat' on!

Can't wait to take a 'gander' at the Bahia from up there! Sign me up for some whale watch duty up there...if there's icy cold Pacifico tapped in on top...:smug:

Bob and Susan - 9-15-2007 at 05:04 AM

Packoderm...sorry dropped the ball...

"Is there going to be some kind of shade structure/structures?"

we have three umbrellas with table and chairs otherwise just the shade from the buildings

later when the 6 palm trees grow it will be more...
you know how much shade they provide:lol::lol:

actually in the winter you LOOK for the sunny spots as it drops to the 60's at night and only reaches 80 during the day

we sat by the front door of our casita in the swing last night
from 5-7PM in the shade with a "cool one" (NOT capt'n mike)

we had a 10MPH breeze and it was 88 degrees
VERY NICE !!!

then from 9-10PM we sat and watched the "lights" in the sky;D
