Recently I had the opportunity to take Chris Reynolds, a travel reporter from the LA Times on a historical tour 1920's - 1930's, we toured Tijuana,
Ensenada and Rosarito, here is the article, enjoy
My Mom (from Coronado) and her wild friends made frequent visits to all those places in the late 20's and 30's, and I prowled all of them in the
mid-50's on my own, and with her in the 40's. It was a magical time----for her and for me.
Fun stuff, Ferna-------thanks for posting this. fdt - 9-14-2007 at 01:42 PM

Thanx, ferna.
You should have seen her car! Wow! Back in those days you could order a GM car without the body, etc. and have it custom made. That's what she did.

a good movie is Losing It about some high schoolers who make a night of it in TJ, stars a very young Tom Cruise.
campy in parts but filmed there and the scenes, street scenes are cool to watch.

The reporter did an excellent job on a Tijuana that has had so much history and so little time.
Thanks!
My father-in-law worked on the TJ race track when he was a young kid.....He was also the concrete foreman on Jack Murphy Stadium before he retired

I really need to take you all (or those interested) on one of these and maybe I can get some additional knowledge from youPackoderm - 9-16-2007 at 07:51 PM
I looked up Losin' it on Wikipedia, and it says that it was filmed mainly in Calexico Ca. I remember Born in East LA being filmed on location in TJ.
You can watch it here online for free. http://www.moviesfoundonline.com/born_in_east_la.htm
Thanks, Ferna ...

...for putting us onto that fun piece...with remnants of such fun times of our past!
One can almost imagine those times, if you had a few dollars to burn, going across the border without any 'hassle' to visit the wild life...and so we
can now realize how Vegas took most of the action!
