Baja Meat Cake

I found this on the internet. You might have seen it, but it looks good, and I would like to hear from anybody who has tried it. I would change the recipe by adding Lipton onion soup mix to the ground hamburger. To make it Baja-centric, you could then add some minced peppers. Actually, cut green peppers would be good in this cake.

First get the ground beef in order (with spices):

Place into pie tins:

Bake in the oven:

Let cool:

Cut flat:

Get your spices/toppings in order:

Coat the layers:

Mashed potatoes:

I am going to try that! That would be great for the next pot luck, I never know what to take. I guess I'm going to have to get used to smooth mashed potatoes though. I like 'em chunky.

Packoderm,
What is the recipe? What's the web address? It looks just silly enough to try but I'm confused about what flavoring is in the meat, how you get it to stay together, and do you serve it at room temperature. I'll probably never serve it 'cuz Docsdad and I are the only carnivores in our family, but I'd still like to see the particulars. Thanks. Docsmom.

Looks kind of like a round meatloaf to me:?::P:biggrin:

Here is a site that has the recipe:

Looks to me like this recipe is a put on by a guy named Pacoderm (sic). Hmmmm....Centuries old cake? Pacyderm Pie?
I shoulda shut up just so we could see how many Nomads actually try to bake this doorstop.:lol:

I just went to the website.
Got it! "Men in Aprons"? "Black Widow Bakery"? That oughta tell you something. Thank you, Pac.

On the Black Widow Bakery site, the various cakes looked good, but sounded...........well.............not so good. I doubt whether I would want to taste one. Packoderm.....thanks for posting this as an gourmet option.

Not too many Nomad meatballs trying the recipe. I guess it was time for this cake-thread to meat it's maker.

Doh! Seems like a lot of work for a meatloaf, but I'll try anything once. Maybe the meatcupcakes are easier.

.... or the loaf cake?

Gnome-ad - 9-15-2007 at 05:58 PM

... or the sheet cake?

How 'bout that deviled egg cake?

Made some really buttery mashed potatoes the other day from what I remembered from a TV show- forgot the exact measurements but they're not that critical. Started with Yukon Gold potatoes, boiled till soft, then salt & pepper, a melted stick of butter and a cup or two of buttermilk or buttermilk and sweet milk mixed. Mashed, not whipped. I like em a little lumpy too.

I may be a meat head, but I still don't think I want to be a meatcake head. I would rather take a bite right out of the side of a cow. :tumble:
