The 33" TrXus MTs are worn down to the 'replace or disgrace' wear bars. Last weekend in Tijuana on the beach, Willy of Willy's Transmissions in
Playas thought they were 32s. They still climb like champs - especially with the rear locker, but there is no way they are ready for a torture-fest
like Baja Grande #2. So, here is the next set of upgrades for the 'ole Rubicon:
1 1/4" Teraflex front coil spring spacers - these will go on in order to provide additional room for tire/wheel uptravel.
34"x12.5r15 Interco TrXus MT Tires - a hybrid Mud-Terrain & All-Terrain tire with the sidewalls that Baja demands along w/plenty of tread siping.
Shock-length w/the ProComp MX6 shocks shouldn't be an issue w/the weight of the bumper/winch combo when you look at uptravel, although downtravel
might be slightly affected. This should be a great Baja combo for the Jeep. I can't wait to see how it does out there in the dirt! I'll keep ya'll
posted on how things turn out...Ken Cooke - 9-16-2007 at 10:32 PM
Keeping the Jeep as "Streetable" as possible is high on the list of importance, so I will keep the MX6 shocks that came with the 4" suspension kit.
For the front, the addl 1.25" of lift will compensate for the .50" of additional tire, and accomodate suspension flex with the swaybars disconnected.
The rear shocks were set by the fabrication team at 4 West in Colton, CA with the .75" coil spring spacers in place. Setting everything up with the
MX6 shocks was real tricky, and this took several tries before they got it right.Ken Cooke - 9-16-2007 at 10:44 PM
I'm pretty sure the guys at 4 West set the rear for 50% droop. Without the extended bump stops installed, I get some pretty crazy flex for a short
arm suspension lift. Roberto - 9-17-2007 at 11:26 AM
