East Cape info please

Hi all,
Les and I are about to head south for our well earned Baja vacation.
One thing we have never done is visit Cabo Pulmo and snorkel the reef. We want to visit the area and just hang out, eat and enjoy for a few days and then head elsewhere. Don't really want to do the resort deal or package this or that unless thats the only way you can get in the water. We also need a place to park our vehicle and camp trailer with surf boards and gear and have it still be there when we get out of the water or back from the beach.
Soooo question is any recommendations near the reef to camp if that's still allowed or a good layed back resort you would suggest.
Does anyone know what condition things are in from the last storm? We will probably be in the area mid Oct.
Thanks fellow brothers or sisters for any replies.

cabo pulmo

Just south of town is a road out to the Playa there is/was a sign cant remember the name on it Playa Ar????????? any way take that to the beach there are/were palapas along the beach. The reef is right off the beach there. This is one of my favorite places in Baja to camp.
Have Fun

It's Los Arbolitos "the little trees". Only about 150 meters of beach there. Great snorkling but you'll be there with about 100 other people vying for room under a few small ramadas. No camping, park police there all day. You'll have to find a place for your trailer in the Cabo Pulmo village. More space near Frailes -- maybe park at Frailes, snorkle at Los Arbolitos.

You could park the trailer at Verdugos and drive over to Pulmo.

Just wanted to mention, the la Ribera Botanical Gardens on the way in to Pulmo, they offer impromptu tours and its lots of fun to learn a little on the way. Plus you might get a fresh fruit or salad.

Gadget...you did not state when, so watch the weather...at least one projected path for TS Ivo, has it over the top of this area.
Have fun and don't get to wet:lol:

I second the idea of staying at verdugos. You should be ahead of the wind surf/sail crowd and it is not that far to drive to pulmo

Yes I will third Verdugos. Walk anywhere in town and also a great bar on the beach.

Thanks more guys.
Al G, we will be in your hood early Oct sometime.
We will have our travel e-mail deal set up to stay in touch with those left behind. I'm going to post the day we leave and hope that all of our Nomad buddies will shoot us their e-mail addies if they aren't on the board profiles so we can look em up for a visit.
I'm going to post a rough idea of where we are heading so you all can see if you're in our path if interested.
This week will just not end soon enough!!!!!

Make sure you get to the snorkle spot no later than mid morning to get clear, clean, flat water before any afternoon winds can cloud the water.

If you want to feed the reef fish remember to use frozen peas. I forgot that one year, used refried beans and those darn park people made me get out of the water and leave the park area. I don't have any idea what they thought it was. Boy, were they excited!

They probably weren't too interested in what it was, but were more concerned with the fishes digestive systems and didn't want the water clouding up " fishfarts ? "
