Diesel shortage mid Baja?

gpm414 - 9-24-2007 at 03:50 PM

Just made the drive from Tecate to La Paz on Sept 22 & 23. Driving a Ford 350 Superduty diesel with camper and small cargo trailer. Filled up in El Rosario as normal, but when we stopped in Guerrero Negro for the night, there was no diesel at either the station on the Hwy or in town. Fortunately the next morning we found fuel in Vizcaino, but all the stations in San Ignacio and Santa Rosalia were also out...said they didn't expect any until Tuesday, which in Mexico may not mean this Tuesday. There was diesel in Mulege, Insurgentes, Constitution, and La Paz. Don't know if this was just a one time thing, but just wanted to give a heads up. Road was good, waved through all the check points...very green south of Loreto. Safe travels.

Looks like it is beginning to pay to begin looking from Jesus Maria on.

same owner for all the stations that were empty

ALWAYS fuel at villa jesus maria 20 minutes before gurerrero negro

mulege has not been out and most newer diesels will make it

Yes, these stations often run out of fuel and to put it delicately, there are issues of payment to distributors so this often hapens at these stations owned by one family...the deisel is what they scrimp on. So by all means fill up in Jesus Maria and buy a yummy taco or tamale from Sirenitas mother in law (kind of) the place is called Cassandras on the same side as the gas station.
