I'm coming down to Baja (Punta Abreojos, Mulege, Loreto, points in between) in the spring, mostly to kayak. But Easter is early this year (third
weekend in March). I'm trying to decide if I need to put my trip off until April or if I can go in March. I'm going to be gone for three weeks, which
would put at least part of my trip during Spring Break if I go in March. So my question is, how bad does it get down there. Does it get crowded in
BCS? Is it swarming with drunk teenagers on the roads? Does it become impossible to find a place to stay or camp without hearing your neighbor snore?
April seems like a long way off, but I only get to come down once a year. I'll delay my gratification if the alternative is not being able to really
get away from it all. I'd love to hear from those with first hand experience in far-from-the-border places during the two weeks either side of Easter.

Yes! Bahia Concepcion and other public beaches will be packed... this is Mexico's #1 activity during 'Semana Santa' (Easter week)... Drinking, Loud
music all night long... it is their way to celebrate... Your only hope is to have four wheel drive and get to areas where the mobs cannot.

this in from Loreto area. absolutely avoid Semanta Santa, the actual Easter week week. (yes, a national orgy of beach time, with all the associated
drinking, crowding, noise. trust us...you won't want to be near a beach, nor trying to shop for groceries nor trying to eat out) a week or two
before is fine. the week after is iffy, those who don't have to return to work immediately will linger. and the garbage will, too.

The Loreto area is mobbed during Semana Santa, the week leading up to Easter, with Mexican vacationers. The beaches are jammed.
However, Loreto has received little attention from the young American spring break crowd. We've only seen one table of them, at Macaws a few years
ago.
But times are changing, more flights and more promotion, but I
still wouldn't expect any MTV Beach Parties.

not as bad as people think here on the bay in mulege...
lots of room...
santispac and burro may have a few but not as busy as people say...
the snowbirds are all gone by then and that's half the crowd
now ensenada is another story....
edit: oh yea
driving back on easter sunday is the pitts...
you'll wait at EVERY army checkpoint and 4-5 hours at the border
don't return easter sunday if you can avoid it

I beg to differ about santispac & burro and all the beaches on the bahia concepcion...they ARE packed easter week and the roads are
treacherous...I would suggest that week going to the pacific side as everyone from here heads to the "Bahias" so it is like a ghost town over
here...but it is usually very windy for camping. We used to go to Agua Verde but even this remote gorgeous spot was rather busy last year so we're
gonna try to find a new spot. Why don't you consider house sitting for us here in Asuncion for the busy easter days????

We spent our vacation last year at Playa San Rafael south of Bahia de Los Angeles. We were alone outside of Pancho who lives there and a gentleman
from TJ with his daughter. Just an option....

We were there(Mulege) last year prior to Semana Santa. It wasn't too bad yet, but it depends on how the calendar goes. I would avoid all beaches that
week unless yer in the mood to PARTY!

santispic and burro are busy but no carnivals or fiestas like the past
there are people for sure but NOT like the "old days"
it's not really as bad as pepple say...
the canadians all run off to canada right before semana santa and don't get to really see the FUN!!!

A little culture clash is good for any would be "bajaphile"............so take a chance, and mix it up with the locals, Guey!!
Semana Santa in any Mexican beach town is a life changing experience.

Yes, one must experience Santa Semana in Baja Norte y Sur. After that, one will, shall we say, think twice before doing it again.

If you want baja adventure, you really need to challenge yourself and join in the Semana Santa adventure fully. To succeed you must stay up 24 hours a
day for days on end, if your proud, you should out drink grandpa and uncle-talks-alot way past sunrise. No one will notice whether you're family or
not you will be quickly immersed and integrated into a family and be assigned a nickname and various chores. If you do go in the water expect 1000
kids to hang on your kayak until it flips or sinks and all your belongings get swept up like christmas gifts. Just the joy of hearing banda music 24/7
is something you will never never never forget. You'll have a blast-bumpa-bumpa-bumpa.
