Martyman,
The locals use 16, then switch over to 14 once they make contact. Gringo groups have different channels they use, 68, 72, 78 etc. depends who your
buddys are.

you aren't gonna need a radio. if you get in trouble burn your spare tire. the black cloud will be spotted and the calvary will come, soon!
edit: but let the air out first before you set it on fire!!!!

where's MARTY? the other marty, you know, the chargers ex coach!!
tazed is a reference to that kid back east who got tazered after asking john kerry a stupid question. when the cops took him down all you could hear
was, "DON'T TAZER ME BRO!!!" and then garbled electrons pulsing thru his vocal chords.

Out in the middle of nowhere (which is much of the Baja) nothing works - CB, VHF, cell, etc. The only thing that will work is a satellite phone, and
I don't think you want to pay the price of equipment, over $1500 and the price per minute around $2-$5 plus a hefty monthly service charge depending
on the plan.
Here in the Baja, you have to be self sufficent in most places. But there are helpful people who come along quite frequentlyjerry - 10-5-2007 at 09:14 PM
just go for it
my first time alone was a 1972 banner moterhome 30 ft pulling a toyota pickup with a 14 ft boat on top loaded to the gills just dont hurry keep your

you can rent sat phones by the month.
and buy them all day long on ebay for cheap a lot less than retails of $1500 etc.
and minutes are as little as $1.25 per.
also consider 2 meter band short wave. lots of people use those. hand helds and mobile car type mounts.
