Gypsy Jan - 10-8-2007 at 07:28 PM

When asked by an inquisitive stanger in Spanish, "Morde?" (Too busy w/dinner to do the alt code for the upside down question mark.)

The answer is, Si! (See above for busy/lazy excuse.)

When asked by an intrusive stranger who you don't want near your dog(s), in English, "Does he bite?" The answer is, "Yes!"

Jan, that made me think of that Clouseau episode in a hotel lobby were he asked a guy about a little nippy dog biting. After the guy told him that his dog didn't bite ,sticking out his hand which the dog promptly bit, he looked accusingly at the guy, who then told him " that ain't my dog ".:lol:

Remove your watch and hide the clock... Baja (when camping) has its own time system and for us it is: eat when you are hungry and sleep when you are tired.

Don't push yourself driving just to get to a destination... you may find all kinds of treasures if you stay at a new or unplanned spot...

Things get done 'on Mexican time' (add one or more hours to an appointment or meeting start time)...

Maņana does not mean 'tomorrow', it only means NOT TODAY.

There is just so much BAJA... and so little TIME!;D

Bajagypsy - 10-9-2007 at 05:09 AM

Make sure you have enough ice for your beer!

Shake hands with everyone who's willing.

BajaWarrior - 10-9-2007 at 07:03 PM

When driving, wave at everybody, and they will wave back.

Mango - 10-9-2007 at 07:19 PM

Take a walk and when you happen upon an old person in town, sit down and talk with them(Don't forget to use Usted). They know far more than you, they will appreciate the conversation, and you will learn more about the area than any guidebook will ever tell you.

Sallysouth - 10-9-2007 at 08:40 PM

Get insurance, and don't make eye contact with shady-looking people. When crossing the border(northbound), simply hold up your index finger and wave it just a bit to let the vendors know you are not the least bit interested.(no, not THAT finger!)

oladulce - 10-9-2007 at 09:23 PM

Shake out things off the clothesline before wearing and always check inside your shoes.

danaeb - 10-9-2007 at 09:44 PM

Sorry Bajacat, I have to give another side to your theory. A very good friend of mine picked up a blonde Scandinavian :dudette:'hot chick' in Catavina one summer when we all were supposed to meet for the solar eclipse in Bahia. She said that she was wanting a ride ONLY to the turn off, which turned out to be to our camp site, which then turned out to be on every boat ride, which ultimately turned out to be a trip up North, which in the long run turned out to be opening the passenger door at the border cause she didn't have the proper paper work to continue with her adventure. She had other things in mind for her trip. So, I guess my point is to beware of the beatutiful hitchiker. Ours was a pain in the burro....but she did do the dishes....

DENNIS - 10-12-2007 at 03:40 PM

Don't get me wrong P<*)))>< ,this girl was strand it on the road to G-canyon they got stuck in the Laguna salada on a little Honda Civic, (too much drinking the night before.) the funny thing is the guys send the girl to get help and they stay drinking in the car...

Paulina - 10-12-2007 at 03:53 PM

Nothing wrong taken, Bajacat. My point was to be wary of hitchhikers, be it female or not. Just as in your situation, they sent out the girls to do the mans work. You never know who is hiding behind the cardon....I've helped out many people and made many good friends because I took the chance to pull over, but now a days one has to be warry of that decision.
