ensenada windy

sylens - 10-21-2007 at 05:05 PM

and dry. 12% humidity now and the gusts are powerful (don't have way to measure). 85 degrees a couple of hours ago. 82 now.:?:

much of the day the blowing sand and dust have blocked the sun's rays and given us an eerie brownish-yellowish light. walking on the beach this mornig was a chore and required concentration to keep grit out of eyes and ears.

we saw one eucalyptus uprooted and expect more in the next 24 hours.

it is ugly and nasty:mad:

can't wait for the santanas to go away:rolleyes:

Windy indeed!

Hey, it was 92 in Ensenada when we went to the Oktoberfest at Muebles La Mision. It was extremely windy as well. What we thought was fog was actually dirt in the air. The sun was blocked, we could barely make out the mountains around us.

We saw many people outside wearing face masks (like for surgery) covering their mouths and noses. Right now it is very calm but the wind is supposed to pick up again tonight and more of the same tomorrow.

I hope the paint on JnJ's house is dry. If not, they are going to get a little more texture than they bargained for, plus a shade or two darker brown. I know our house will be a shade or two darker pinkish-beigeish than usual by the time we get there. Good thing I didn't bother washing all those windows when I left!
I always feel badly for all the woman who have to hang their laundry out to dry during these dust storms. If I were there, I'd be one of them!

And the wind was blowing in the opposite direction from what it normally does. This all came from the East...

Ya-HOO! It's shaping up to be an epic windsurfing season!;) I understand that the La Nna/El Nino effect will make things windy all season...give windsurng a try - once you're hooked, you'll met a whole new set of nice folks in Baja!

As we approach our second winter back in Idaho and it's supposed to reach freezing temperatures tonight, I have to say I still miss the winds of the Santa Anas. I know they cause problems (and fires) but I used to love to feel the hot, dry winds. While we're all getting our sprinklers blown out up North, you Southerners can look forward to more sunshine and warmth. I am so jealous!

Yep. and we insulated our house last Spring...Bajamigo so wants to have a fire in the fireplace...but it's just too warm!!!

I used to wash the railing on our back porch and the horizontal surfaces on our security door often; but, I was finding myself washing them almost every other day. Now I just wait for it to rain, which around here is almost never.

It was very windy here in Mexicali today; but, we had very little dust. It was unusually clear for a windy day around here.

It's blowing down here in Loreto too-- kicked up early this afternoon. And someone has kidnapped Carmen-- yes, that would be the island-- not to be seen this afternoon:o:o

It's windy here too and forecast is for more and stronger winds today. 48mph high gust last night. Blowing between 25 and 35 this morning.
