Trip to Abreojos

Thought this was a good report to share off Bloodydecks from another member.

I just thought I should report that on the way down to Abreojos last week we took a wrong turn in TJ, got lost and were pulled over by a policeman at about 8:00pm on a Friday night...And crazy enough he did not rob us, take a bribe, hassle us, kick us in the nuts, or carry out any other terrible act. He in fact figured out that we were lost and then gave us a police escort to the correct road that we needed to be on to get to the 1 freeway. The point is that not all police/people in TJ and Baja are bad people.

Oh yeah...this is a fishing website so I should report how we did...we caught tons of yellows, dorado, grouper, etc. We also hooked and lost a striper and saw at least 10 others.

If you love Baja keep going...because it is worth every minute! I am convinced that part of the reason Baja seems so much "more" dangerous is because it is much more widely reported (with the internet and such) now then it was before when an incident happens. I personally feel it is not any more dangerous than certain parts of Los Angeles. You wouldn't drive through Compton or other dangerous areas of LA between 11:00pm and 4am so don't do it in TJ. Just practice safe/smart travel and you will be safe.

QUITE!! All tongue in cheek. It is great to hear some good news about the police in Tijuana and the fishing conditions at Abreojos. The Vizcaino region is fast becoming my favourite part of Baja. Heading down Nov 15th to Asuncion for the holidays. Hope all those fish find their way there by the time I get there;something has to punctuate the peace and quiet!

I know it sounds pretty good huh? Thats one part of Baja I havent been but have always wanted to go. It is good to hear some positive reports, especially from Bloodydecks. Actually, I could care less if everyone were to scared to go, leaves more fish for me:lol:

If you go a little further fishing the Magdalena Bay can be
real interesting, especially if you have a boat to fish the offshore banks that the long range boats fish. Lots of fun fishing the mangroves. You can get lost if your not carefull. Its like a
maze in there.
